    Bay

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful girl
  4. I thought I'd bump this up for those who haven't seen this great packet mentioned by the OP.
  5. As others have said, feed the best food you can afford. As for Kibbles and Bits poisoning your dogs...well, before I was introduced to the greyhound world and started to research foods, I had a medium size mixed breed who lived to the ripe old age of 16 on Kibbles and Bits. That's not an endorsement; it's just my way of saying that as far as I know, it didn't harm my dog at all.
  6. so this is the guy with the bag over his head!! Congratulations!

    Sweet Mama Ro

I remember Sweet Mama Ro. She was beautiful
  10. You've described Phene after Loca passed away . I solved the problem by adopting Treasure. I'm sorry for your loss
  11. Phene's tick titre was borderline normal, but the nasty critters were visible in his blood. His symptoms included acting strangely and low energy, even for a greyhound. He raced at Plainfield in Ct. but I'm pretty sure he grew up in Florida. Good luck! I hope she's better soon.
  12. I also took phene to the vet today for a hurt back. The vet recommended that I use a harness to walk him to relieve some of the pressure from his neck, which might be a good idea for Doug, also. He was also given rimadyl for pain. It was kind of funny that he also suggested that Phene take it easy for the time being
  13. Doxy won't treat some of the more common TBDs found in greyhounds. Before Phene was diagnosed and treated for babesia, he too acted very strange (even for phene, who is one of the more "eccentric" greyhounds i've met) . Babesia isn't treated with doxy. One thing about TBDs and greyhounds...you probably know this already, but some of these dogs move around so much that they are exposed to lots of TBDs, even some that aren't native to his area. I had one hell of a time finding a vet to test phene for babesia because the offending brown tick doesn't live in Ontario, so if the doxy doesn't clear things up, it might be worth running the full TBD panel.
  14. I used this harness with Loca and it was great. Her vet thought it was anatomically perfect for a greyhound, also. ETA: I used a size medium for 55 lb. Loca.
  15. I'd love to go! Hopefully I won't get caught in any earthquakes this time

    Stinkerbelle

I gasped when I saw this. I'm so sorry
  19. Oh man, that is just so unfair!!! Yes, please get a second opinion from OSU. A few years ago my local radiologist vet diagnosed Loca with bone cancer (chondrosarcoma, not osteo) and the vets at OSU determined that she was misdiagnosed and was fine.
  20. Her inquisitive personality shows in her beautiful eyes. I'm so sorry
