  1. I too am just seeing this today. Hugs to to you and your whole family.
  2. Yesterday we took King out to the beach with us. While there he must have stepped on a sharp shell or rock because this morning we have discovered that his pad has a cut on it. It is in an awkward spot, on the side of the pad. He has been licking at it a lot; it isn't bleeding. It doesn't appear to be very deep. We have to leave him for several hours today so he will probably take anything I cover it with off in relatively short order. Should I try to put some bag balm or neosporin on it and cover it with a sock even though we wont be here? Does this require a vet visit tomorrow or will it just be ok if we keep it covered and with ointment on it as much as possible? Thanks for any advice you can offer; we have never dealt with this before.
  3. Just a thought... could you use the image of the greyhound in the middle Greytalk logo?
  4. I had a similar challenge with King when we got him; except the drip was from his nose! I was very concerned. I learned on here that he was probably hot as we were keeping the house at 78-79. In an attempt to figure out what a good temp is I did this poll. Given the results I lowered our A/C to 76-77, because if I put it any lower DH and I will freeze and not be able to afford the power bill. We live in FL so it is hot here 90% of the year. I was truly surprised that he was just hot becuase DH and I were so comfortable! We also have a box fan that we point at him anytime we think he is extra warm. Just last night he moved from sleeping on his bed into his crate for a while then woke up got a drink and laid down on the blanket next to his bed. My analysis: I got hot so I woke up from sleeping on the bed and moved into my comfy crate. Then I got hot in there so I woke up for some water and laid back down on the cooler less fluffy blanket. Then mom turned the fan on me so I could cool off and so I moved back onto my bed and slept there all night! Simplest answer she may just be hot; get her a fan and see if it helps! Good luck!
  5. Thanks for all the responses! I've decided to try the CET chews that my vets office recommended this morning. Hopefully he will do better on them, though I will have to watch him carefully because of their shape. I have offered the Bullies to a friend if she doesn't want them I will probably donate them to our group. It is such a shame that he doesn't always do well on them, he loves them so much! I'm glad to know that they have bothered other pups and it's not just him! Thanks again!
  6. So glad to hear that it isn't the BIG C! :yay for Beau!
  7. for you and for Miss Sadie. As others have said try not to be too upset with yourself... I'm sure she will be ok.
  8. Sorry this is so long but I felt that the background might be needed... I would really appreciate any thoughts you have! I gave King one 6" or 8" (I can't remember) Bully Stick quite some time ago from Petco because I wanted him to try one, but it smelled awful, after reading here I figured it wasn't preservative free and looked for another source. He LOVED it and was fine after eating it so I figured he would be ok with them. A while back we got a King a 12" Bully Stick from a locally owned pet store. This particular store only sells the 'premium' foods like Canidae, Solid Gold etc. The lady ensured me that the Bully Stick was preservative free and I really think it was because it didn't smell bad at all. Well that night around 5 am King woke up and starting vomiting. My husband says that there wasn't much it in except bile and a little bit of the chipped beef on toast that we had put on top of his kibble that night for dinner. After eating a lot of grass and throwing up a few more times outside, he seemed fine. We all went back to sleep downstairs and woke up around 8 am. We were going to take him to the vet but he really seemed like he was ok so we decided just to watch him. He didn't have any breakfast that morning, but we didn't offer it. We prepared one cup of rice and a boiled chicken breast for his dinner that night. The next morning we gave him just kibble without any of the usual additives (Salmon Oil, Vitamin E, Wysong). He was fine with all of that so I figured his system was back to normal. So, I figured that it was either the chipped beef or too much Bully Stick that caused the vomiting. At least a week later we took a 6" Bully Stick from the same store and gave it to him to see what would happen. He was fine. A few days later, another 6" bully from the same store and he was also fine. So I thought that perhaps it was the chipped beef mixture or just too much Bully Stick (a full 12") that had disagreed with him and didn't really worry about feeding him the Bully Sticks as long as they were 6". So I ordered 25 12" Bully Sticks from Dena on Ebay with the recommendation of several GTrs. My intention was to cut them in half and have 50 of them that would last quite some time. As a side note, Greenies give him diarrhea and I have not been able to find any rawhide that looks right in a while. Well they came in and I gave King a 6" one Monday night. We gave him one last night as well and everything seemed fine. Well just now my husband had him out for a walk and when he came back he said he vomited "green stomach bubbly acidy smelling stuff and a chunk of what looked to be Bully Stick" twice. He ate the Bully Stick about 20 hours ago and had a regular kibble breakfast this morning at 7:30. He seems perfectly fine right now but we plan to go with the same feeding schedule we did last time and he will get rice and boiled chicken for dinner tonight. Does this mean that I just shouldn't give him Bully Sticks? Is there anything in particular I should be worried about? Has anyone else ever had a dog that couldn't eat Bully Sticks? Are they very rich? We were trying to find something that would be good for his teeth as a chew. We already have a vet appt. for a Bordatella shot tomorrow so I can ask about it then but I wanted to see what you all think. I never did call my vet the first time because he seemed ok, perhaps that was a mistake. DH and I are supposed to go out for our anniversary dinner tonight but now I don't feel like we should leave him... I really appreciate any insight you can offer. Thank you! Edited to add that this is what he's doing now...
  9. I don't have any real experience with this but wonder if some tuna might help? Or on the flip side if she's trying to eat but then stopping perhaps the smell is too strong? Maybe some plain rice or pasta if she likes that, something a little less strong that is still human food? I know when I am nauseaus I go for bland foods. Sending good thoughts and prayers for you and Emmy!!
  10. Yes! King was our first pet and our vet reccommended it on our first visit. We have been using it for 6 months with virtually no King doesn't like to chew it as a treat, we have to cut it up and put it in his food but I like it better than applying something to his skin. Hope that helps! PM me if you have any other questions!
  11. Sending prayers and good thoughts for Blitz! Hoping for a quick recovery!
  12. So glad to see that he is feeling better! Now be a good boy Bones!
  13. Thank you for that link, it has a lot of good info. It seems to be nonexistent at this point, so I think it was a bite. However, I will continue to watch it and make sure nothing else appears there. Thank you!!
  14. So glad to hear that she is home and enjoying cuddling with Mom! Bless you all!
  15. There is no rash with it so I don't know what that means exactly. If it is ringworm is there anything I can do or do we just take him in to the vet? We'll probably take him either way but if there is something I can do, I would like to! Thanks for all of your help!
  16. That is really good news, so glad to hear it!!
  17. I know that this probably isn't too serious but we just noticed this round area on King's inner thigh. It's about 2" in diameter, isn't hard but is definately raised and a little pink (more so than it seems in the pictures). Any ideas what it might be? I hope it's not serious. Thanks for any info.
  18. Healing thoughts and prayers for you and you pup. This is one of my biggest fears for all the puppers because it is so time sensitive. So glad you caught it early!
