  8. Thanks Burpdog for your response. The vet gave King 2 shots. Reglan & Famotidine. Reglan is an antiemetic and the Famotidine is basically Pepcid. King seems ok now, I'm just hoping for an uneventful night (aside from the elections....). I had the vet check his paws for any abnormalities and he didn't find anything. He thought perhaps he has a little arthritis. He gave me a sample of the new PhyCox which is supposed to help. I'm going to post in EEG to see if anyone else has used it. Thanks again

  12. Let's see if I can make any sense out of this.... Perhaps it's nothing but I just don't know. Sorry it's so long, I guess I just need to get all the thoughts out... Last night DH didn't get home until 1 am. That is very late for him but I stayed up and waited. King slept next to me on the couch until about 12:50 am when we went up stairs to get ready for bed. He usually gets a milk bone before bed but I ran out (bad mama) so I gave him a rawhide chip. We get these rawhide from the vets office, they're the ones that have special stuff to help clean teeth. He used to get American made retriever roll rawhides but they started to look funny and when we mentioned it to the vet they suggested these. So we've tried them and he's done fine with them. He also has a Himalayan Yak Chew but seems to prefer the rawhide, I think because the Yak Chew is so hard! I have found a company that sells American made retriever roll rawhides and I'm going to order some but that's for another story. I give him the rawhide so he has something to chew on. If he doesn't get enough to chew on he starts chewing on things he shouldn't... Just after he finished the rawhide he started whining. I didn't think much of it because if DH isn't home at bedtime he whines. Then I noticed that he seemed to be trying to vomit. I took him down stairs and it continued, so we leashed up and went out side. As soon as we got outside he started eating grass. DH was in the drive way and he didn't even look at him, which is totally not like King. He is always excited when DH gets home. I didn't really want him to eat the grass (because I know it is treated) but he just wouldn't stop! DH tried to take him for a walk but he really didn't want to go, also not like him at all, he LOVES walks! They came inside and we stayed up downstairs with him for about an hour and he seemed ok so we all went to bed. He never actually vomited. This morning DH took him out for a morning walk around 6:30 am and he was fine. I got up and fed him around 8 am and again all was fine. Around 11:00 he started trying to vomit again. It looked more like he might actually vomit this time. I took him out onto our screened back porch and he paced and tried to vomit a lot. Finally he did vomit. DH said it was grass. It was VERY foamy. He continued to pace and whine and try to vomit a few more times but he didn't. I called the vet and made an appointment for 2:30 pm today. When DH left for work at 11:45 this morning I tried to take King for a walk. He went out and peed but then he thought he was going for a car ride so he drug me back to the house! I finally convinced him that we were going for a walk and we got a few houses down be he kept stopping and trying to go back. So I gave up and just headed back for the house. On the way back he tried and tried to eat more grass but I just didn't want to let him. We came back inside and he has been fine since then. He was roaching next to me a couple of mintues ago. A few other notes: 1. DH says that the area on either side of his penis has been more firm lately. I noticed that the area under his front legs seems a little more flabby (DH Agrees). 2. He has been whinier lately. He didn't used to whine very often at all but lately it seems like he whines for no reason. DH says it has been bad since Halloween. I think it has been longer than that. 3. We switched foods starting Oct. 22. We have been very gradual, we still have two more days of mixing. We went from the old version of Canidae to the Lamb version of Kirklands. (On a side note, I don't think he does well with Chicken based foods, that's why we did the lamb). He seemed to be doing well with the switch. Most of his poops were still firm but we would get some less than firm ones as well. He gets pumpkin with all of his meals. 4. Lately on our evening walks (the long one - about 40 min). He has been limping more. I usually stop, pick up his paw and find a small pebble in the middle of one of the pads but not always. DH noticed that he seemed to be limping a bit when he walked him too. He certainly doesn't always limp but the times that I have found a pebble he has been limping very obviously. The times when I have noticed him limping and there wasn't a pebble, I don't know what to make of that. Perhaps the pebble fell off before I got to see his pads?? 5. I think that my vet thinks that I have too many questions or something. It's just a feeling I get; it's probably all in my head but it's there either way. I think it's because I've never had a pet before so I have so many questions for him... I'm not looking forward to taking him in with such a vague description of what happened and why I have him there. King has vomited before (maybe twice?) and we didn't take him to the vet. We were able to pinpoint what upset his tummy and go from there. This time I am not sure exactly what the problem is. It seems like it might have been the rawhide but he didn't actually vomit until about 11 hours after he had it. It's the not knowing why he's vomiting that makes me want to take him in. Well if you have any comments or suggestions on this odd array of happenings I would be thankful for them. I sure hope all is ok with my boy... King's worried Mama
  13. That's wonderful to see! You're such a strong girl Ember, keep it up!
  14. I don't have any experience with the medical challenge but if you need something for the slippery floors we bought the mats pictured below from Lowe's. They weren't too expensive, $17 or $18 for 4, but they might help you get through this if you need an easier surface for him to walk on. They are pretty cushy and have made our tile floors tons easier for King to maneuver. Feel better very soon Mac! Best of luck!
  15. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Here's hoping everyone gets their time with him... My prayers are with you!

  20. I don't know if it's related or not but after the formula switch Canidae did a lot of people were reporting "orange ploppies" - don't know how long you've been feeding the new formula but that's the only thing that came to my mind. Good luck!
