  1. You know the fact that the strong drugs seem to have little if any effect makes it sound to me like he has a serious energy blockage. That would also explain physical issues too. Too bad there isn't any good acupuncturist close by. There are several natural type things that may help- Fresh Factors, yucca, arnica, DGP pills etc., even pressing on the "aspirin point" may help him. One thing that has really helped my houndies(and me) with pain from age(Aggie is almost 14) and injuries(Cash) and that is a BIOFLOW magnetic collar. It is so strong it is a class 1 medical device in GB and you have to get them from there. The cheap magnetic collars readily available are not effective to my knowledge. It really has to be a real BIOFLOW collar but let me assure you they work very well and have been most effective on the 2 dogs I tried them on. In fact it comes with a 90 day money back guarantee so you've nothing to lose by trying it. They really helped my dogs-especially Cash. Their web is www.magnet-healing.co.uk but I don't know how to do links so you may need to type it in. In fact if you pm me with an email addy I can send you 2 or 3 articles on this and pain options. Just keep trying and I'll bet you find something that works for him. Give him a hug for me! (gently)
  2. I have had great success with chrondroitan sulfate and yucca. Specifically the yucca sold by Solid Gold Health and the Chrondroitan sold by Springtime- the Fresh Factors people in Cockeysville MD. It is important to get quality products. Even though they cost more than store brands they are worth it and are still much cheaper than the possibly dangerous NSAID's you mention. You can use Fresh Factors or if you get a small canister of the "J-Flex" you can give her 1/4 teaspoon divided into 2 daily doses and save even more(per Springtime). It is very cheap. Don't expect the store brand chrondroitans to be as effective as the concentated extract from Springtime. The yucca too is very cheap and Solid Golds is effective-store brands might be too "weak". J-Flex has no taste- just dump it in their food. Yucca is very bitter. I put it in a tablespoon or so of honey and most of the time Goldie would eat it then-or I would pour it down his throat. Things don't have to be an expensive chemical to work. Nature has many relatively cheap materials that work effectively and safely for many! Good luck. (PS- I am a chemist but still-or maybe because of that- I prefer the natural treatments.)
  3. What a great girl!!!! Wonderful pictures. I love "the smile" and "the shark". Thank you very much for sharing her memory and pictures. Her eyes are so telling. You can see the kindness and love and even that yes, she was a sport!
  4. Praying for Sunny. Regardless of what they are God can heal them.
  5. In the face of such magnificent love- no words have meaning. God bless you and God bless Brooke.
  6. You have so much healing energy in your love!!! You could never"fail" him. You are a blessing to him as he is to you. I am praying for the both of you.
  7. My Goldie used to do that too. Board certified vet said it was A-OK, nothing to worry about and called it "Drinkers Cough"
  8. Slim had pannus. HE said (via animal communicator) that things had been a little blurry before the drops but that everything was fine and he could see great once he got started on the drops. It didn't cause him any problems. Its my understanding that greyhounds tend to fare pretty well with pannus. It is German Shepherds where blindness can approach 80% I heard.
  9. Prayers going up from KY! Please keep us updated on her progress. I love the seniors!
  10. Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. My deepest sympathy.
  11. Oh my heart is breaking for you. I know how utterly mind blowing and devastating it is to come home and they are fine as usual and then mere minutes later they are sick and cross over. His job here was done and it was time for him to leave his earthy body and cross over. There is nothing anyone could have done to change that. He still has your love and you will always have his. Love can't die. It is energy and cannot be destroyed by cancer or anything else. You will always have each others love just like before. My deepest sympathy. Chance maybe you could send your Mom a sign that you are OK?
  12. Oh my goodness. My heart is breaking for you. What a beautiful and special tribute which I know can not even begin to hint at what a lovely lady she was. Love and specialness just radiate from the wonderful photos. What a girl. My deepest sympathy. Dearest Piper, run free, fast, healthy and happy. You are loved and missed forever.

    My Sweet Jazz

My heart breaks for you. I think he is indeed smiling at you- from heaven. When my soulmate Slim crossed the pain and devastation was so complete I don't think I could have gone on had God not used Slim to teach me that he had not died- only his body did. Slim is still with me, still my soulmate. I hope you realize the same blessing with Jazz. Jazz, maybe you could send your Mom a sign?
  14. The pictures are wonderful. The love you two will share forever is simply too beautiful to be described with words. Thank you for sharing it with us.
  15. My heart breaks for you. Deepest sympathy.
  16. If it is the size of a small pimple then Ivy used to get them. Vet said it was nothing so I would just pop them and clean away the blood with alcohol and then it would scab over and heal pretty darn quick. They never came back but new ones occassionally came in different places. I think its jsut a greyhound thing. I wouldn't worry too much.
  17. Praying for Smiley. I hope it brings you some comfort to know that I felt the same way when I took Ivy in for her amputataion. In our case it was immediately obvious it WAS the correct decision and we had many more happy times together. She was a very happy active girl even though she received chemo afterwards as well. They used her picture as the Chapter beginning for a book telling of peoples experiences with amputation. It was called "WITHOUT REGRET."
  18. Dr. Hammer, one of the few certified veterinary oncologist, recommended it to me for the same bald thighs on Ivy. I also take it occassionally and it just makes me feel rested like I got a good nights sleep. My thighs have not gotten hairy either. Maybe that part only works on houndies?
  19. Run free, fast, healthy and happy Sweet Brusier.
