  1. So sad to hear this. Saint was a fighter his whole life but now he is pain free and running in the tall cool grass
  2. Last year Bijou developed a mass (fatty tissue) on the inside of her leg. This caused her food to swell. Vet gave her some antibiotics, I was the para-vet here and would warm up damp towels in the microwave. Hot real hot, but damned warm Applied the warm compresses on the mass shrank in size and a day later her foot was back to normal size. Rub along her leg and see if you feel a bump that isn't usually there. It could be causing a circulation issue slowing the blood flow to her foot. Greg and the Girls
  3. Often my new fosters will do that. I think it is a habit they pick up at the kennels when you feed 20 dogs at once you have to grab as much as you can at once. So they load up and then go to their happy place to hork and actually eat. My fosters would do that a few days until they realized I free feed and there always seems to be food. So they then go into a grazing mode. The funny thing is my new foster Josie has an overbite. So she will try to grab a mouthful of kibble and as she walks to the living room for dinner she drops a little trail of kibble..
  4. Hot Roddie, you get better soon...Maybe something ebil about that lying Road Island..If it will lie about being an island, no telling what is is capable of. Healing energy from Greg and the Girls
  5. My foster girl is a quasi-nitter. She has an overbite so her nitting is more like scraping her up teeth on my arm..
  6. Stella, run free of pain and enjoy the warm sunshine and green grass on the other side of the bridge. You will never be forgotten or loved.

  9. A few of the Costcos here in the Phoenix area had the ND Salmon while others didn't. They test marketed them there. Now they are in all the Costcos here. and the original Costcos that test marketed the salmon now have the turkey as well. So maybe in a few months your costcos will add the turkey to their lineup.

  12. This morning (Tuesday) my foster Baby Girl crossed over the bridge. Saturday she started to walk and her hind legs didn't seem to be in-sync with her brain. Late Sunday night she stopped eating. Monday she seemed better but last night her hind end got weaker. I was set to take her to the adoption groups vet today but early this morning she was laying down and passed. She was in the Magic foster house since the first of the year, First with her gum issues, then the happy tail. She came from a farm south of Phoenix and was living outside. Her coat was a mess and she came to stay with me and the girls. Even with her passing I am happy to say she had a spoiled 10 months here. Never wanting for anything and getting everything she wanted. I feel that she was "my" girl even though a foster. She will take her spot on the mantle next to my heart girl Isis. Run Free, Fast and Pain-free my Baby Girl.
  13. I've had my foster Baby Girl for several months. She will lay in the living room with me and the other hounds but most of the time she prefers to be back in my bedroom on a papa san cushion. I think she likes it because it is a bit more quiet, and the AC keeps it a lot cooler then the rest of the house. I wouldn't worry too much. Some hounds are more social then others. Greg
  14. They are usually carried by major grocery stores, Kept in the freezer section with the human ice cream. but like everyone else is saying here, you can make your own for cheaper and a lot more
  15. Once I switched my girls over to Nature's Domain Salmon and Sweet Potato grain-free, they seem to eat less which equals...yes less poop. And firmer as well. And now all the Costcos in the Phoenix area carry Nature's Domains. Some even carry the ND turkey and sweet potato and it's only like $32 for a 35lb bag
  16. Welcome to Greytalk...I hope to see of all the kids you get in. You'll find the GT family is amazing. if a bit "odd".. We are known for our GUR and unquestionable love of the houndies
  17. Wabi was a true character and her journey to your home was special for all of us. Now she takes this next journey alone, but not without the love of her parents and all on GT that have been there through thick and thin. Wabi, enjoy the cool breezes, warm sunshine and all the stuffies you can attack
  18. She has a immune disease that is causing her gums to be red and irritated. Her immune systems is seeing the normal bacteria and plaque in her mouth as an infection. After a gum biopsy we got the diagnosis. And to cure that, she has to go on immune-suppresent drugs. But with the "happy tail" issue and the amputation of part of her tail we have to wait until the tail is healed before start the immune drugs for her gums. If we were to start the drugs for her gums that would cause problems on her tail healing... It's always something with this little foster
  19. Spoil and love and give her every food she wants. if the stuff she shouldn't..ice cream by the tub.. My heart goes out to you. I, like many here, have gone through this so you are not alone. They are never here as long as we want. But the time they are, they touch our souls like no other.
  20. I picked some up at a local Asian market
  21. I never thought I would have this happen. Today I found an Asian market that had chicken feet and thought I would get some for the girls. Seems everything I've read on GT, I figured they would be the next best theng since sliced bread for them. Bijou, Tessa, and my foster Baby Girl approved with "extreme prejudice". Ellie on the other had, couldn't have cared less. She did take one since everyone else did, but just went to one of the dog beds and curled up and dropped the foot and ignored it. Of course once she got up to move it was like chum in shark-infested waters to other girls. Is Ellie that odd or have any of your hounds said No! to chicken feet?
  22. Ok, those of you that have been keeping up with Baby Girl.. After having part of her tail amputated 3 weeks ago, I went to the vet last week for a bandage change. Leave it Baby to surprise us. When they removed the bandages, only ONE suture was there. the other THREE somehow vanished into a parallel universe.. So 3 sutures were but in and today we went for the bandage change and all sutures accounted for. We had hoped to be removing sutures and starting her on her meds for her gums. But with the new sutures being put in it's now one more week (provided her tail heals like it should) before we start those meds. So let's knock on wood..
  23. She is doing ok today..Doesn't look like they had to remove a lot of tail. She is on her antibiotics and some tramadol. Seh has been hanging out in the living room with me some but prefers my bedroom and the papasan pad. She hasn't been licking the bandage so, so far so good. I take her back in Wed. for a bandage change and them about a week later she have the sutures taken out. Her is my little one drugged and snoozing..you can see the bandage work.
  24. If is it isn't one thing, it's another with Baby Girl As you may recall from previous posts, when I took Baby Girl in a couple of weeks ago for her gum biopsy she had a "happy tail" issue. So the end of the tail was wrapped up. This morning I took her in to have the vet check the biopsy site and start her on the immune-supressant drugs for the gum problems. Well, that is on hold now. When the vet went to unwrap the bandages from the tip of her tail, there was no tip...Ouch.. Nothing but about an inch of tailbone exposed. SO I left her there for a partial tail amputation. Then I bring her home this evening and MAYBE in another couple of weeks when that heals we start the other drugs. When it rains, it pours..(I know that phrase is foreign to us desert dwellers )
  25. My feeling for what it is worth is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
