  1. One thing I found was that food which can be licked or lapped rather than chewed in any way, was often much more tolerable to Darcy when she was feeling unwell. I've spoken to other people who have said the same thing too. One random thought regarding mouth ulcers. I don't know if Darcy got actual ulcers (we never saw any) but something certainly happened because prior to amp/chemo, she would eat crunchy foods but during and afterwards, she would not. As an example, she used to love treats made out of dried fish skins (ewww) but they're really hard and crunchy and now she won't eat them at all (unless I bash them into tiny bits).
  2. I'm glad to hear that Bodie had some fun, running He must have felt OK to be doing that Do trust your judgement. The day will come (hopefully not for a good while yet of course) and you WILL know for sure. Till then, enjoy - and kiss him from all of us

  8. I have never said this on GT before but - we do think that Darcy was given a larger dose than she should have been given, of Doxorubacyn (her final dose at the end of her chemo treatment). It was sort of alluded to at the time by the vet and then discussed again at a later date but anyway, what I'm saying is that Darcy had her treatment on the Thursday and she was admitted to the hospital on the Monday. She had really bad sickness and diorheah (however you spell it) and she was very poorly indeed. She was treated at the hospital until the Friday (by which times those symptoms had stopped) and we brought her home to continue her recovery. And she DID recover. Penny may well be in for a rough ride over the next few days but I want you to know of Darcy's story so that you know that it is possible to make a complete recover. We will be sending very best wishes for Penny and for you
  9. Darcy had no side effects at ALL from her carboplatin. She was in and out of the vets within an hour (and that hour included us chatting to the staff, them setting up for the giving of the chemo, giving the chemo itself, chatting some more etc) and that was it. No side effects at all. Maybe she was a little tired a few days later but it's hard to tell with a deerhound (or a greyhound!). Love to Polli and you
  10. Welcome home Clementine!!! And breeeeeeeeathe
  11. Gosh. That does look like something which requires immediate veterinary attention. Hope she's OK
  12. Cannot wait for the post which tells us she's back home with you
  13. Tom - I'm sorry to hear that Ember is going through a rough patch. I'm sure that I've read of MANY dogs who really really pick up once their stitches come out so hopefully, that will be the case with Ember. Maybe, if its not stitch related, she's pulled a muscle or something as she's now having to use her muscles in such a different way. Whatever the cause - don't second guess your decision too much. There's not one of us who hasn't second guessed this particular decision but it will come good
