  3. That's exactly what we use everyday for one of ours. It's been almost 2 years now and we've had excellent results. We order ours from Cal Vet Supply http://www.calvetsupply.com/product/Tylan_Powder/Antibiotics

  8. We crate 5 of our 6 hounds. Of those 5 only 3 of them pick the same crate each time. The other 2 hounds switch between the 2 remaining crates. It's never been a problem.
  9. Our adoption group warned us that we'd become very skilled at minor wound first aid...they were right. We have a very well stocked first aid kit for the dogs but for us, we're lucky if we can find a band aid
  10. Are greyhounds the only sighthounds with unusual blood values? If not, what other sighthounds share this difference?
  11. What a good analogy and a very nice thing to say. Sending hugs and healing thoughts to Lazer
  12. For Barnaby the bloody liquid oozed out his anus just as the OP mentioned Bailey's did. Barnaby's gland did not rupture.
  13. My Barnaby had that same thing happen and it was infected anal glands. They cleaned them and packed them with I think the vet said was an antiboitc ointment and he was also put on a course of oral antiboitcs. He did recur one more time shortly after the oral antibiotics were completed. He repeated the same treatment and they never got infected again.
  14. We use tylan powder without the capsules for one of our boys. 1/4 teaspoon at each meal, he's fed 2x's a day. At each meal, I mix it into a tablespoon of pumpkin then add this mixture to his kibble. He wolfs his food down. We've been doing this since November and he's never not eaten. Also, the tylan powder significantly helped his loose bowels.
  15. YAY! So good to hear that Kebo is on his way to a full recovery. Thank you so much for sharing your journey it was very informational. Sending many, many kisses to Kebo's nose.
  16. The tylan powder was a miracle for our Finney. I didn't read all the responses so this may have been mentioned already...tylan powder is very bitter. To hide the taste we stir it into a tablespoon of pumpkin before we mix it into his kibble. I also know that you can get empty capsules to put the tylan powder in if you need to pill your dog. Sending good thoughts for Merlin and you.
  17. Try making a towel e-collar, awhile ago someone posted the directions on GT but I can't find the thread. A google search came up with these directions posted on NGAP's website. Sending good wishes.
  18. Glad to hear Nola is home and will be thinking good thoughts for a speedy recovery. Curious...I know you were looking for vet referrals for Nola's lump a while back, which vet did you decide to have perform the surgery?
  19. Kebo looks fantastic! Much better than my imagination conjured up. Thanks for sharing his story and the pictures - while unusual still good to know
  20. Thanks everyone, based on my research and your experiences, I've decided to change to ND.
  21. Has anyone on GT switched from TOTW Pacific Stream to Nature's Domain Salmon & Sweet Potato(Costco's Grain-Free) kibble? If so, what has been your experience? I currently feed TOTW PS and am thinking of changing to Nature's Domain. I have compared the ingredients and they are alomost exact except that TOTW has castor oil and ND doesn't and conversely ND has flaxseed but TOTW doesn't. Other than that I see no other difference. So tell me GTers what's been your experience...good or bad?
