Sheila...I just saw this, as I don't come here so often anymore. I'm so very sorry! Kiowa was one of the most well known canine personalities on the Board. You must feel so incredibly sad...my thoughts are with you, Sheila... Hugs, Marion

  12. My very best wishes for sweet Flashman...hoping that it's nothing serious!
  13. If your Flashman is acting normally, eats well is happy and goofy...I personally would NOT make him go through so many 'vet tests'. My Ivy will be 12 years old in a few months. His only vet visits were when he broke his leg many years ago and when he tore off a ligament of his hock joint. Those were accidents but I never took him to the vet without need. He never had a dental...he never had a blood panel done... he never got checked up. I think when a hound acts normally, has a shining coat, is playful, has a good pink gum colour and eats well there's NO need to take a dog to the vet. My personal experiences with vets are not good and I have become very careful...
  14. Her problem is not food related as she does perfectly on her food. She gets a mixed diet based on Premium dry food, meat, yoghourt, an egg every now and then, sardines etc. Her issues are systemic and appear with a certain regularity, never mind what food she gets.
  15. Thanks KUDZU! I would be glad if she could live another 6 years as she's 8,5 now, so she would be 14,5 years...
  16. Here she is...as you can see she's not underweight at all and looks fine. The pic was taken last week...
  17. As some of you know, my sweet Soldi had intermittent colitis every 14 days during 2 long years. Her issues included bloody diarrhea, tummy noises and 1 day without eating. Then she was perfect again until the next colitis episode. She had lots of exams and was diagnosed with idiopatic IBD and the vets wanted to put her on Prednisone for the rest of her life. I didn't agree and stopped vaccinating her and took her off all chemical stuff and like a miracle her colitis got less and less and stopped. 6 years she was perfect...not one colitis. Now she has started again after her season and her colitis issues come and go without medication. 1 day tummy noises, then 1 liquid, bloody stool and back to normal until next time. She's not dehydrated ever, no fever ever and her gums look fine. Her stools become perfect within 2 days...The vets told me that it's something in her system without a known reason and that the only 'remedy' would be Prednisone. I don't want to put her on Prednisone as it causes other problems. I've found a product that sounds very good but I've never seen it on GT...it's called GASTRIPLEX: http://www.wellvet.com/gastriplex.html WellVet.Com Gastriplex Has anybody heard about this product or even used it...some experiences?
  18. My hounds have sensitive digestive systems. I have used COSEQUIN for years...never had a problem.
  19. Beecher and you are in my thoughts...
  20. I can assure you that I'm as sensitive as you are...I would have cried too...poor Mallard duck male...ducks normally join and stay together for a lifetime...it will be hard for the male.
  21. Poor Whippet... I hope he feels better soon. Concerning the chicken soup, I would always prefer home made stuff. I think pasta is easier to digest than rice...
  22. Hugs to you and hoping that it's nothing serious....
