  1. Hello and welcome! I can see why you couldn't wait. Congratulations!
  2. Carly, Princess, and I LOVE cashews! Cruz isn't a fan, but that's just more for us. There shouldn't be a problem unless a lot were ingested ... then the extra fiber could cause some diarrhea, but a small amount shouldn't cause a problem.
  3. I second this. I've seen seizures caused by both hypothyroidism and tick borne disease.
  4. Every day with them is a gift and a blessing. I'm so sorry.
  5. I'm sorry. I hope he gets good results from the Depo injection. Sometimes it works wonders.
  6. Has megaesophagus been ruled out? I did some reading on this when my bridge boy Keno began having choking episodes. Keno wasn't vomiting, however, and was later diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis. I hope you get good news. Keep us posted.
  7. Welcome and congratulations on your beautiful blue Irish lass! Scooby is a wonderful organization. My Galgo, Irys, came from them.
  8. I'm so very sorry. My first greyhound, Frostman, died in his sleep without any warning. That was 8 years ago. Having lost dogs to illness and without warning, I have to say -- for me -- the shock of the unexpected was harder for me to deal with. People will sometimes ask me why I continue to put myself through the pain. For me this poem says it all. Fragile Circle "We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan." -- Irving Townsend. We all grieve and heal in our own way and on our own schedule. Only you will know what's right for you. Again, I'm so sorry.
  9. Welcome and congratulations! What a handsome brindled boy!
  10. TBD = Tick Borne Disease. Erlichia, Babesia, Lyme, etc. Very important to check for these in greyhounds with any kind of joint pain, inflammation. My friend, Alisha (2hounds), has a 4 year old girl who became gravely ill several months ago and was discovered to have erlichia. She is recovering but was very ill and could hardly walk. Please make sure they've checked for all the TBD's. I would think at Tech they would, but just make sure. Keep us posted. I'll keep her in my thoughts.
  11. I went through this in January. I'm sorry you're faced with it now.
  12. I'm an advocate of alternative/wholistic/complementary medicine for my dogs and myself. I would love to hear more about this "Hind End Weakness". What's in it, where did you get it, etc.? Two of my bridge dogs had weak hindquarters as they aged -- neither was actually diagnosed with LS, but I have to wonder. Anyway, I always file away stuff for future reference and would love more info on this product!

I'm so sorry for your loss. It hurts so much to lose them.
  14. What a beautiful tribute to a special and obviously much loved girl! The shy ones hold a very special place in my heart too. I'm glad you got to share each other's lives even if the time was short. Thank you for sharing her with us.
  15. Welcome and a very happy 15th birthday to a much loved girl! What a gift to have her reach this age with you. Before I was ever faced with it, people told me "Don't worry, you will just know when it's time". I must say I found no comfort in this and was so sure they were wrong, and continued to agonize over it. My head was full of lots of "what ifs" and I was so afraid of doing the wrong thing. I too have dedicated my life to a helping profession and know how easy it is to lose one's self in service and to agonize over doing the right thing. But in the end my beloved companions have clearly told me and the sense of peace was unbelievable -- the peace of knowing I was doing the right thing for them. I'm sure you will continue to treasure every precious day and as simplistic and unbelievable as it sounds now, she trusts you and I think she will tell you. But, of course, today is a day to celebrate her 15 wonderful years!
  16. She's a beauty! I hope she get some relief. My bridge girl, Chloe, responded well to therapeutic massage. Unfortunately there wasn't any hydro-therapy available in this area for her at the time. Let us know how she does!
  17. to Jackie, Ty, Payne, & Bindi! The posting photos thing is not hard if you have someone to show you how -- I had to have a remedial course, but did master it. You can too! Looking forward to hearing about your hounds.
