  1. God Speed sweet girl. You were lucky to have been loved by such nice people, but you knew that. I'm sure they know how much you loved them too.

    Daphne Is Gone

What a sweet tribute to a wonderful girl. Grieve for her as that is what she deserves. Thank you for loving her so much; I'm sure if she could talk, she would have thanked you for the love and told you how much she loved you.

    Yoko

    I'm so sorry!
  4. Hystiocytoma is my guess. Animex ointment every day and it might shrink. Usually they do go away, but you might want to have a vet make the call.

    Kevin

Godspeed Kevin. You were truly loved.
  6. Words cannot speak to the pain you must be feeling. But feel peace. for the love she knew she had from you was the last she remembered. If she could have spoken, she would have told you so. Run free Magic, you were greatly loved.
  7. What a powerful and sweet tribute to a hound you loved so much. He went though a lot with you and he knew your love and I'm sure it meant a lot too. God speed sweet boy.
  8. My best wishes for you. I faced the same decision not too long ago. I found that taking each day (and sometimes hour) at a time and making it special was the best way to go. Don't prolong anything. You will know exactly what to do and when.
  9. I'm so sad for you as I know what you have been going through. I lost two of my heart dogs in four months. But as they left this world, it felt as though they were passing into my heart. It's so sad to lose our friends, but you did the right thing and I know that Sadie is thanking you right now and watching you from the bridge where she will see you one day.
  10. So sorry to hear that you are going through this. We recently lost a wonderful hound to lymphoma. The one special lesson we learned was that every single day with him was important and full of love. It made for a bittersweet but special last few weeks with him that we will always treasure. Each hour of every day - make it special.
  11. Good thoughts are being sent your way! Like others said, perhaps it's a UTI or bladder stones. That can make them bleed and feel bad, but it can be treated. Keep us posted!
  12. Lots of prayers and good wishes go your way. Having been through this I can vouch for the value of "one day at a time." It is so special. It helped us through it all.
  13. This is so heartbreaking. I know that words must mean very little to the pain you must be feeling over such a loss. Just know that you are in our hearts and prayers. God speed, John E; look for your companions at the bridge. They will be waiting for you.
  14. Sending lots of prayers and good wishes to Carrier. Please keep us all posted. LOL
  15. I wish you the best. I was where you are last June. Don't give up hope, but live every single day as if it were your last. It is so much better when you live in the moment like these wonderful hounds do. Live every single day separately and you will get much joy no matter what happens.
  16. Cassie, our eight year old hound, had a tucked vulva and we had a choice to have surgery or manage it ourselves. We wipe her every time she goes outside and she has had no UTIs or any other problems for over five years. It does take being vigilant and maybe surgery is the way to go for some.
  17. I know how worried you must be!!! Will be thinking of you and Bonnie and sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way! Please keep us all posted.

    Athena

What wonderful people you are to give a sweet greyhound such a wonderful home. Athena was loved by so many in one family. God Speed, sweet girl. She will be patiently and lovingly waiting for you all at the bridge.
  19. Thank you all so much for your words of comfort. Ford was such a wonderful dog. There is no way to describe what a wonderful dog he was.
  20. Agree totally with Burpdog and Kennelmom. I hope all turns out OK.
  21. We know what you must be going through. So very sorry for your loss. Run free sweet Chance.
  22. Our precious Ford (Fool Hearted Man) crossed the bridge today. He turned nine on December 9. 2007. He started limping Thanksgiving evening. Multiple x-rays showed nothing bad but he kept getting worse. He saw a wonderful orthopedic vet who x-rayed him again and recommended that he have an MRI. We had that done a few days ago. The MRI revealed that he had a synovial cell sarcoma in the joint which had begun to invade the lymph nodes in the leg. We only had one alternative---amputation of the leg, removal of the lymph nodes, and chemo. We took 24 hours to decide that we could not put him through the pain of surgery to give him an unspecified period of pain-free time added to his life. Within one week, his health had deteriorated and he was clearly in a lot of pain. Ford was our "perfect" greyhound. He came to us six years ago as a foster and we could not give him up. We immediately fell in love with him. He has been the most wonderful, sweet natured animal that one could ask for. He was our official "meet and greet" dog because he loved people. He would go up to everyone, wag his tail, turn around and move into them and lean against them holding his leg up and looking up at them lovingly. It was a wonderful performance. I can't count the number of times that we could have adopted Ford!!! He was our "lovebug". Our hearts are breaking at his loss. But we could not stand watching him suffer any longer.
