Bevd Posted June 20, 2005 Share Posted June 20, 2005 (I am aware that its not the norm in the USA to have outdoor cats but in quiet areas of the UK, it is the norm). Buttons was hit and killed by a car this morning. Buttons came to live with us about 8 years ago when she was raising two kittens. Unfortunately, the female kitten (Zippy) had to be put to sleep at 6 weeks old with a congenital defect but the male (Velcro) thrived and he stayed, along with Buttons. Velcro went missing a few years ago and we never found out what happened to him but we have to presume he's at the Bridge. Buttons is now at The Bridge, reunited with her kittens and also reunited with Amber and Sky. There will be a big party at The Bridge tonight but there will be a big hole in our hearts. It won't be the same at night here without ButButs to share the bedroom. Night night darling Buttons. We love you and we know you'll be waiting, just this side of Heaven. I have two cats that although I have tried my best to keep them indoors only, they just won't tolerate being indoors all the time. That is something I always worry about, and make sure they are inside when I go to bed. At least Mister stays on the front porch (too much effort to waddle any further with his bulkiness ), but Velcro (yes I have a Velcro too) likes to wander.
