VinnieAndRexsMom
12/26?/91-9/04/04 Rex came to us as a spunky 8 year old and was a two-time bounce through no fault of his own. He had retired at age 5 after racing mostly at Witchita but also including a few short stints at Geneva Lakes and Dubuqe. That boy made me laugh every day. He brought a smile to my face. He still does. He was a perfect gentleman-- very proper-- with slight alpha tendencies. Rex was glossy black, smooth as silk, black tuxedo, heart shaped face, a slight Roman nose, big, bat ears, two white back toes and one white toenail. His eyes were deep, dark brown and his eyebrows always expressive. He was very photogenic. He slept curled up in a tiny ball. He was small, fast, and slight of build. He could turn on a dime. He weighed 64 pounds on a heavy day. He slammed, banged, and trash-talked Vinnie when they ran in the yard. He would spin, prance, and play bow, and he slapped the floor loudly with both front paws when he was excited. He loved stuffies and could kill a squeaker faster than a lightning strike. Rexie loved walks, rides, and people food. He had milk and cookies every night before bed. He loved his Mom, Dad, and sisters. He was our watchdog and our protector. He chased the cat twice. He reminded me when I'd been on the computer too long. He banged his hard little head under my elbow and made my arm bounce. He reminded me every night to take my meds at 10 p.m. without fail He woke me up if necessary and was relentless until I took them. He wanted petted anytime we were sitting near him. I would sit or lie with him every night and pet him, sometimes for an hour or more. The only thing he asked of us was to love him. I held his small, heart-shaped face in my hands and told him he every day more times than I could count that he was a precious baby and that I loved him to pieces. I always kissed him on the top of his head, and he never mionded. I thanked him many times for coming to live with us and told him I was sorry he didn't get here sooner. We always celebrated his birthday the day after Christmas. He would be 12 years old today. I miss him. Happy Birthday Rex.
