DaintyDutchess
Anybody here check out the Trader Joe’s supplements they have for dogs? I just saw them in stock in my area. Made in USA... Thoughts/comments?
kronckew
My last dog, when she got elderly, I used an American Equine glucosamine & chondroitin powder, cost me about £15 for a kilo tub (2.2lb.) and lasted forever at about a teaspoon a day mixed in her food. My vet said there is no difference in the chemical formulation between the horsey or the doggy versions, or even the human ones. I used it myself. probably should buy some for me again now... Poppy doesn't need it yet as she's only going on 7 yrs. Does make you want to chew on the lawn tho. 2greyhoundMINI
I used Dasaquin Glucosamine, Chondritin, MSM chews for my last 2 hounds and it seemed to work well. Am planning on getting it for my new girls as well. Ordered from Amazon. FiveRoooooers
Costco’s Kirkland brand of Glucosamine/MSM is 1500mg of each component. My seniors have been on this for years. A bottle of 375 caplets is around $18, and they are often a sale. Give one caplet twice a day. Quote Old Dogs are the Best Dogs. Thank you, campers. Current enrollees: Punkin. SerenityHounds
I have been using Get Up and Go from https://www.greyhoundgang.org I had at first bought just the small containers, then went ahead and got the bags for refills. I do use all 4 recommended items, but the MSM and Vitamin C only about 1/2 the time. The lady who has this site has a good bit of information regarding this subject. I started this on older hounds a few years ago and it seemed to work quite well. I now use it on my two newest (3 & 4 year old) hounds. Sadly I no longer have my elderly pack :-(
Shannon
I’d like to think that these sorts of supplements help, and I am wishful enough to possibly use them again in the future, but I just haven’t seen results in any of my dogs. my vet says, “probably won’t hurt, but might not help, either”
