I am so sorry to read about Avril's attack. I know how scary it can be. Aquitaine and I were attacked on a walk 18 months ago and the other dog opened her throat and put holes through both her inner and outer lips. One of them put a tooth through my finger when I was trying to separate them...the other owner was on his cell phone!!

Avril is probably doing better than you are since she isn't dwelling on what happened, and she didn't see herself get hurt. We are the ones that hold things in our minds. The vets at the ER that night kept telling me that Aquitaine was doing far better than I was. They kept trying to get me to go to the human ER down the block for my finger but I told them I wasn't leaving while they had my dog. My best friend is an ER doc and I knew she would come examine me and give me meds when I got home, Aquitaine was the priority.

I love pits, they are great loyal dogs. However, they are on my 'you can come near me but not my dog' list because too many of them don't have responsible owners. I am less afraid of their hurting me than of their hurting her. That said, Aquitaine's best friend is half-pit and half-Ibizan and just loves her to pieces.

Avril will heal. You will heal. Don't let this take your walk time away from the two of you. Just ramp up your caution measures. Sending lots of prayers and good thoughts for Avril's continued healing.

She continues to amaze me and is doing greyt!

We had a tornado in my area of Houston yesterday, so I had to get her and Dalton in the closet along with the dachshund and cat. She did fine with that too. Poor Dalt, the rumbling of thunder is like the devil. It about killed him.

thank you all for your continued good thoughts. We are good!
