macoduck
Many of you may remember Annie. She was a 14 year old who escaped into the night when high winds blew a gate open. Her rescue was dramatic - she was stuck in the mud of a tidal creek with the tide coming in and a storm clouds on the way. Thanks to a posted flyer a call came in. We were able to get Annie's dad to the location and borrow a boat. He poled out to her, jumped out into the muck of the polluted creek, hoisted her into the boat and got her to shore. Annie's family did all they could to help her recover from her injuries. The abrasions to her feet took months of bandage changes to heal. I relayed to Annie's family all the messages and gifts from caring GT members and they were overwhelmed with gratitude. They never expected so many strangers to do so much for an old dog they'd never met. Annie's family was so happy to have so many more months with their old gal after she recovered. Annie was helped to the Bridge after being diagnosed with probable abdominal cancer. You were a good old gal, Annie, and it was an honor to meet you. My blog about grief The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not get over the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same.
