LuvAPuppy
I am taking Wilbur to see another vet and forwarding xrays to Dr. Cuoto. The difference of opinion in the house about how to move forward has not been resolved. One of us is going to have to give, but maybe that will be easier when we aren't hanging in limbo. Wilbur had another good day. His appetite is great, he's in no pain that I can see, and he's comfortable and content. I've been giving him extra leg massages for the edema in his leg, and he really seems to enjoy that. He's on another round of antibiotics just in case the edema is due to some nasty infection lurking in his leg. He's still getting a 75mg Deramaxx in the evening with dinner. In the early weeks of all this, I could tell when it was time for his Deramaxx just by him getting uncomfortable and seeming to be in pain. I can't tell that anymore; he just seems relaxed and pain free all the time. Thank you everyone for the good thoughts. He's my baby boy, and I love him, and I want to do what's best for him. Good! Two more opinions hopefully will only help you and your husband make the best decisions. Praying for all three of you that Dr C & the second opinion vet all agree there is bone growth starting there. I'm so glad for him that he's not in apparently horrible pain Quote Angie, Pewter, and Storm-puppy Forever missing Misty-Mousie (9/9/99 - 10/5/15)Fort Wayne, Indiana

Fiona3
My heart goes out to you for the position you are in. We've been there before and not knowing what is best is stressful and heartbreaking. Getting another two opinions is important for you to make a decision. Wilbur sounds like such a loving, gentle boy - I'm glad he's feeling more comfortable. May he have many, many more days ahead and a solution for his difficulties. Guest Adrianne
After a second opinion, we really don't know any more now than we did before. There is what looks to be new bone growth in Wilbur's leg, which is good. There is no obvious tumor or lesion to be seen. Chest xrays look good. Wilbur still does not seem to be in any pain, and all the edema in his leg is gone. He has, however, lost a significant amount of weight. All information will be forwarded to OSU. After much discussion and tears, the decision has been made that we won't amputate if we get a cancer diagnosis. I'm not happy about it, but it comes down to an issue that just cannot be overcome. At this point, I am praying for a miracle.

You and your husband got some of your concerns hopefully soothed a bit by a similar opinion and that was the point. We all pray for that miracle with you!
