Guest LynnM
I got to thinking the other day that it was a year ago this weekend that Ranchie (Xtra Ranch) came into our lives. He was a good boy, ever the gentleman, as he fought the infection that eventually claimed his life. He was one of the most affectionate, intuitive, easy-going dogs I've ever met. He was smart (before the infection started in his leg, he learned to let himself out of his crate at the adoption kennel). There were many times that Pam arrived home and I was curled up asleep on a dog bed with Ranchie because we both took naps as his leg soaked. Many dogs will tolerate that sort of thing, but Ranchie seemed to really enjoy having someone to snuggle up agianst. He was the perfect house dog and I'm glad we were able to give him a taste of pet life before he left us. Lynn
CaliforniaGreys
I swear not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I wanted to offer him a home so bad once he got well but knew I was too far away. I thank God every day that he knew how much he was loved, I really believe that. I guess I need to believe that. You all fought so hard for him, he had to know you were fighting for him, as did Marilyn. He is one boy I will never in my life, forget Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless

Guest TheUnrulyHound
I just read thru all 17 pages of his heartbreaking story, bless all of you who stood by him, loving and nursing him.... He sounds like he was a absolute joy to be around and such a fighter. It is amazing and awe inspiring to see the wonderful people of GT come together to help such a wonderful little guy. Bless all who sent him meds and funds and prayed for him for the months that he struggled. He died a day before my birthday and I will, like many others, always remember him Ranchie Edited July 7, 2009 by TheUnrulyHound

fsugrad
Ranchie I will always remember you because the day last December that I adopted my Robin from Pam, I was pleased to also receive Ranchie as a special delivery to take down to Marilyn at Grey Haven. Robin and Ranchie rode together in the back of my SUV, and they got along just fine. Ranchie was so easy going and even tempered. What a gentle soul. I know that he knew and appreciated how hard everyone was working trying to make him all better. I honestly thought that once Marilyn had him looked at by her specialists, and the decision was made to amputate, that he'd be another Jerry Murray-like energetic tripod recuperating at Grey Haven and waiting for his perfect forever home. It was so sad and seemed so unfair when Ranchie lost his battle. But he definitely went to the Bridge knowing he was loved by many, many people. Rest in peace, sweet boy. You are missed.
