Guest greytful4
CURRENT UPDATE * We are now home from the vet,and she is happy to be home! She seems to be a lot better although there are still unsettling signs. Her platelets are still very low, and her head has just a slight tilt. The specialist ran sevral more tests on her and they STILL don't know anything. They are sending blood samples to NCU for further TBD testing. An ultra sound revealed no masses or anything out of the ordinary. The vet did notice that both her kidneys had some striated scarring at the cortex ,indicating she had an issue at some time. There were no signs of bleeding in the abdominal cavity. The tentaive diagnosis at this time verbatim is : 1) Neurologic sign ( ataxia, head tilt,nystagmus)-cause open at this time. ll Possibilites include infectious disease (i.e tickborne),bleed in brain secondary to thrombocytopenia, vestibular disease, brain tumor or lesion, other. 2) Thrombocytopenia (low platelets)-cause open at this time. Possibilites include immune mediated cause, infectious disease(i.e tick borne) diseas, other. The meds she's on is (1) Doxycylcine 100 mg 1 1/2 tabs 2x a day (2) Prednisone 5mg 2x a day (3) Meclizine 1x a day as needed for dizziness. The vet went over everything with me and explained as best as she could what they did and what to look for.Her biggest concern righ now is bleeding to and keep an eye out for signs of it. She goes to her regular vet this wednesday for a platelet count. She's quietly resting on her bed now after having four chicken nuggets for McDonalds and a handful of cookies here at home. Her kitty, Theodore, is happy his girl dog is home! Me, I'm exhausted but happy to have my girl back home. I'll keep everyone posted as things progress. But I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for your prayers, wishes and concerns, you don't know how much that means to me.
