He should be ok to come home tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest, and then she thinks the bug will run its course and he will heal with meds and bland food. Metronidazole is the generic form of Flagyl, just so you don't think you're missing a med if they send him home with just the one Best wishes for a quick recovery for the poor guy! You can see how good my note taking was!!!! Thanks. I think she said he was getting an antibiotic and a tummy calmer, maybe they are both in the one medication? My vet says Flagyl/metron. has "antibiotic properties," tho' it's not a true antibiotic. And I haven't a bloody clue what that means. This all sounds just like something that happened to Ladygirl when she was a year old (only she was vomiting blood)--severe gastroenteritis. He has already had another small D episode (I thought his tummy was empty!!!!) so we are worried for tonight. He is so exhausted maybe he will just sleep. Monty was hungry today which is great. He has a tiny bit of chicken and rice and his tummy meds, and drank too. Let's hope things don't run right through him......
