Xan
Okay, so what was I doing with my fingers all up in Happy's hoo-hoo, you want to know? Well, settle down! I was going to tell you! Geeze! See, she gets a little funky back there, so part of our morning routine is to put a little bag balm (or prescribed ointment if it gets nasty) into the folds around her girlie bits, which means pulling it apart gently to get in there. Are we all thinking "Man, the stuff we do for our dogs!" Anyway! So, this morning, I'm doing this particular job, and I see a bright red little bump come through the middle. So, of course, ack, right? Or maybe not. Maybe that's just another normal girlie part that just isn't usually exposed, so it's normally red and skin-less looking and all. Maybe it's her happiest girlie part, and all this routine handling of her hoo-hoo is okay with her after all? Thoughts? Xan
Er, yeah, i think you were handling Happy's happy part Does she have an inverted vulva? The vet who gave me the ointment didn't mention it, but I don't remember how closely he looked. Happy would be so THRILLED to know how our private moments have been splashed all over the internet to the amusement of others! YouTube, here we come! Oh, but what would I see if it was inverted? It looks outwardly about like Wabi's, though she's hardly a model of normalcy! Guest Maire
My Kharma has an inverted vulva and she has a terrible time-always has some old dark drainage in the folds and it gets very sore-looking. (no kidding, she even had a speculum exam once in the office) Everything we've tried doesn't work , so I mainly just try to clean her & put some vaseline on it. She REALLY doesn't like me dealing with HER hoo-hoo and will run away & sit on it whenever she even reads my mind! Now seriously, folks, is there anything else that would help her

Xan
Looked up inverted vulva, and no, it's not an "inny". I'm trying to imagine a small enough speculum to examine a dog's bits! Poor girl. I hope they at least ran it under warm water first, and had an interesting poster on the ceiling for her to look at during the exam! queenwinniesmom
I guess though she probably wasn't expecting that kind of stimulation from her MOM, her little hoo hoo isn't particulary selective about what makes her happy! Hound, human, her favorite throw pillow..... When I worked for a vet, we (well, not me personally, my boss) had to manually stimulate a male Bassett Hound so he would ejaculate so we (again, my boss) could artificially inseminate a female Bassett Hound. If it wasn't for humans, I don't think there would be very many Bassett Hounds. But, yeah, it worked. We didn't even have to show him any Bassett porn! And it's a visual that still makes me smile. GreyPoopon
FWIW.... The last time Piper had a suspected UTI, the vet who examined her found a little red bit in there. She said something like, "This could be part of the problem, or it might be normal for her." After we'd given Piper antibiotics, I had a look and didn't see the red bit--although I can't be sure I looked in exactly the same place.
