  1. Congratulations!!! I'm so glad you decided to go ahead. You will love having a broodie.
  2. hrm.. Methinks I'll continue for a few days with half a tab daily to see if any changes appear.. will give it time to get going in his system, without a dosage high enough to leave him worse for wear. Sounds like a good compromise to me. The whole tablet might be OK for a day as a loading dose, but half is the regular amount. My vet has told me that it's a little like aspirin, which can be used as needed. But I find that it sometimes seems to be more effective after 2-3 days--probably because it's had time to have an impact on the inflammation. Please let us know what you discover.
  3. Meloxicam maintenance dosage from the (Canadian) Metacam box: .1 mg / kg body weight. Half a 7.5 mg tablet is 3.75 mg, which is enough (divide by .1) for an 37.5 kg--82.5 lb--dog. A full tablet would be enough for a 165 lb dog. As for the warning:
  4. I disagree. If there is blood, be it tar-like or red, the vets need to know. If Minnie (IBD diagnosed via scope Feb 02) has any blood in her stool, my vet hears about it.
  5. for Miss Bug--you need to get better soon sweetie.
  6. I'm so very sorry. She was a gorgeous girl. I'm glad she found you, even if she could not stay long enough. Godspeed Callie.
  7. Oh, yes, I know that feeling. I sure hope you see only good poops from here on.
  8. that the drugs do the trick, and that if anything shows up in the poop, it's easy to fix.
  9. Oh my word. She's stunning. That first pic just takes my breath away. No wonder Gustopher P. (and you) fell for her. Congratulations to everybody.
  10. How very sad. It's good that her last week was special. Godspeed Calleigh.
  11. Since you walk them, they could easily have picked up some sort of bug. We've had problems here at GI Troubles R Us too--one weekend three of them were sick. A month or so earlier, one of them even managed to get giardia--she's still under treatment. A vet visit certainly won't hurt, especially if you're worried about dehydration. Plus your vet can probably tell you whether they're seeing a lot of dogs with similar symptoms. I hope they both feel better soon.
  12. I'm so very sorry. Godspeed Bull.
  13. I am so very sorry. It's clear from your post that Junie was a special and precious soul. Godspeed Junie.
  14. Have you had allergy tests done? A lot of vets don't believe in them, but they're the reason Minnie (two types of severe IBD) is still alive.
  15. I am so very sorry. You both fought so hard. Godspeed Outlaw.
  16. I hope you can find a positive solution soon--Outlaw and you have been through too much already.
  17. I'm so very sorry. It's clear from the photographs that your handsome, special boy felt safe and happy with you. Godspeed Juneau.
