  1. I am sorry you lost your Jerry. I just read your posts in H&M. We lost our senior Oliver last year when he had a stroke immediately after his dental. I feel your pain.
  2. The price of Sentinel has been creeping up over the past few years. Initially I bought it at the vet's office. Then in the past year I ordered through the vet's office online connection, VetCentric. (Now nearly $184 for one year). Recently I ordered the Sentinel through SmartPak with a (reluctant) prescription from my vet. (One year for $118). Vet made the comment that if my dogs got heartworms that Sentinel/Norvaris would not honor any claims for failing to protect because I did not purchase from an actual vet. Has anyone heard this before? Also, has Sentinel had a change in packaging? Both the box and the sealed wrap on the individual pills is a different color than previously purchased pills through my vet. (It's still definitely Sentinel, white, 51-100 lbs, expires 1/13).
  3. Long gone and missing some fur. Probably got quite the headache too after the shaking that Pudge gave it. I didn't see any blood on it and it ran away.
  4. Update 6/30/08: After one week of using the prescribed antibiotic ointment, Gracie's eye is worse. Although the initial cat scratch is nearly healed, she now has several styes and swollen lids on both eyes now. Per today's vet visit, we are to: give Amoxicillan 500mg, 3 times daily give 4 drops each eye 4 times a day with Ciprofloxiacin continue using the antibiotic ointment 5 times a day return next Monday for a re-check. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- initial post: Gracie, Miss Pudge, and houseguest Chester found a feral cat in the backyard this morning. Gracie caught the worst of it. Fortunately her cornea was not scratched, but she's got a gash in that lower eye lid. Vet gave her an ointment that I am to put in her eye/on the lid 5 times daily. Poor baby, looks like she's got a black eye. I think she needs a .
  5. It's good to see you smiling Karen. Wishing you many years of happiness with Amy.
  6. Polly, you'll need to have 50 posts I believe before you can use the PM feature. The posts need to be in greyhound topics (rather than Off Topic, Soap Box, etc.) GTer Thunderpaws is with Triangle Greyhound in Raleigh. Their adoptable dogs are in foster homes. And here's Greyhound Friends in the Greensboro/Oak Ridge area's available's: GFNC adoptables Editing to add: there are some GFNC dogs in foster homes in the Wilmington area - Ollie and Katie (her picture may not be up yet.)
  7. I'm forwarding all your responses to our group leader. Thank you so much! I wish I had more details myself.
  8. Welcome to the world of greyhounds! Polly - you don't have enough posts yet to do any PM-ing. If there's someone you need to contact perhaps one of we other members can help you.

    Trish

    I miss her too.
  10. Thanks, Tigger. I don't know any more details than what I posted but I'll be forwarding anyone's ideas to our coordinator.
  11. An adopter's grey has recently had knuckling under of a front foot (although not all the time.) He has had diarrhea, is getting very thin. Vet mentioned a protein problem - maybe enteropathy. I think the dog is 9 years old. I do not know what treatment the dog is getting. And I don't know any other details. I have searched the FCE and vestibular postings. Would the knuckling, diarrhea and protein issue be an assortment of issues or is there a single condition that would show all those signs?

    Kiowa

Farewell Kiowa. You were so greatly loved. You will be deeply missed.
  13. Our angel mutt Rosie had the surgery successfully. Vet said for us to expect her other knee to go out within the next year and it did. Successful surgery with that too. It's amazing how fast they recover. We humans would be on crutches and whining. Rosie was ready to run (but not allowed) within a week.
  14. There's a medication called Proin (pronounced pro - in). She could be started on a low dose and see if things improve.
  15. I previously posted about Proud Mary when she was lost in Lumberton, having escaped a motel room when her owners were travelling to Florida. You can read the details there regarding her search and its ending. And now the final chapter in the story of Proud Mary: Shelly from the Robeson County Humane Society gave the owners of Mary one final gift. She demanded the city of Lumberton retrieve Mary's body from the landfill. She accompanied the employee who dumped the body and she was there when Mary's body was recovered - over 2 weeks after being dumped. The collar and tags had mysteriously disappeared. I have my opinion on who removed the tags to cover his tracks - but that's just speculation. Had it not been for the accident witnesses who called me 2 weeks after the accident but who had just seen the first flyer, the owners would never have known what happened. Shelly took Mary's body to be cremated and her ashes will be shipped to the owners in Florida. If you care to send a thank you note to Shelly for her act of kindness towards a greyhound lost far from home: Shelly Carey Robeson County Humane Society 3180 W. 5th Street Lumberton NC 28358
  16. Last year my crew kept drinking out of the (dirty) birdbath. All got the runs. All went to the vet. Yup, ickies in the water did it. NO more birdbath here!
  17. Wally had some slight elevation in his protein. I believe it was Dr Feeman who said don't make any changes unless the results persist through 3 tests over a course of time. Wally had the first test over a month ago. He gets another one next week.
  18. My Wally weighs 93 lbs and looks thin. All mine lay down a lot !
  19. Dear brave Bodie, what an amazing boy you are. Rhonda and Lew, I'll be thinking of you all each day.
