  1. I would expect it to be in the $3,000 to $4000+ for the surgery and hospital care after the surgery. We paid $2000. for just a tumor removal by a board certified surgeon at a specialty hospital in Houston and that was several years ago.
  2. Lynn, I am so sorry. Godspeed Raisin run with all the other angels. Knowing when it is "time" is the greatest gift we can give our fur kids but always so painful for us.
  3. Hoping Wallace will feel better soon. Sounds like he is in good shape overall and maybe just needs some pain meds so he will feel as good as he is.
  4. My three (ages 10, 10, & almost 9) are also on Fresh Factors and Joint Health from Springtime.

What a joyful life Hershey had with you. I am so sorry for your loss. Godspeed Hershey Run with all the angels.
  6. Bev ana Marc we are sending many prayers your way for Wallace, and gentle ear scritches for the sweet boy.
  7. I am so, so sorry this is happening to Hershey. You have done the very best you could. You tried to provide the chemo, but his body is saying no. You have been a good mom. The cancer is evil, it has robbed so many of our babies, robbed them of their health and the years of love they could have received. I am so sorry for Hershey and for your pain. My prayers are with you.
  8. Godspeed Butch, run with all the angels. I am so sorry for your loss.
  9. What a beautiful tribute to your beautiful girl.

  17. Panting and standing or walking is usually a sign of pain and/or stress. The old question, often repeated here, have their been tick titers done? And in the meantime, is there a vet or vets who also practices chiropractic and acupuncture? Has anything else in his life changed? Has he had immunizations or any new meds lately?
  18. I would talk to the regular vet who has his medical history and should have a better grasp of his general health. I would also seek out a second opinion on the condition that is the reason for surgery. My Molly had surgery twice after age 10 and did well with the anesthesia, but her surgery was for a specific reason, to remove tumors. They have all had dentals requiring anesthesia as a part of their health care all through their life. My Renie, age 10 has been under anesthesia 3 times in the last few months, but these were for testing not surgery. Where I would be questioning is the lack of a diagnosis. I would want every effort to be made to find the cause before resorting to surgery. What I got from your post, it seems the vet doesn't know what the surgery is for, or if it is going to help at all. Have tick titers been done? I would definitely want tick titers done. click here
  19. Audrey, I am so sorry. There is just not an answer to the "how long" question, each case is different. With our boy Charlie, who we lost to osteo at age six, the time was very short. Amputation was not an option for Charlie either. Others have had more time, maybe even months instead of weeks. What I can tell you is to try to take on the here and now that Asia lives in. Asia only knows how she feels right now, she is blessed to not know the future. As her human mom you do know, but try to not let that knowledge take control. Be in the here and now with Asia and spoil her, take pictures, enjoy ice cream and burgers, be in today, not tomorrow or next week or next month. Because Asia only knows today, make today count. Be sure that you have advanced pain meds on hand for when she does need them, don't wait until she needs them. Tell her vet that you must be prepared for when the Rimadil doesn't work. I would request Tramadol and morphine now, it seems that invariably pain bears down at night both in dogs and people. Because you love Asia you will know when it is time to let her go in peace. Until then take one day at a time or even one hour at a time. My prayers are with Asia, you and Bob.
  20. I think that is the same as the t-shirts, they have a security blanket effect.
