  1. It would be helpful to post the exact numbers from the blood panel. You can fax them to me and I can post them. Email me if you want my fax number. I too am interested in her platelet count. There have been several greys in/from CO that have had problems due to tick diseases.
  2. I'm sure if you call Ohio State, U of Penn, Florida State or Cornell, you'll find someone who has done a similar surgery for him to consult with There was a girl in Arizona that had surgery maybe 3 years ago or so who I think (and this is from memory and we all know how that is) was a hemodraphite. Does anyone remember this girl? I believe her surgery was successful. Sending lots of prayers.
  3. Run like the wind, sweet one Sending my sympathy

  9. I hope you've read the threads on Winslow, Carrier & the others so you know what may or may not occur in the next few weeks
  10. Remember how I said "I wish she would do at least a slow canter"? Last night! As she was coming in from outside. When she got in I said "you did it!". She looked at me like "huh?" Blood work in 2 weeks. I've switched back to a lamb based food and she is getting (in addition to everything else), a B complex 50mg per day. Either this is all working, or it's just been long enough since the episode after the Imizol injection that she is a little better
  11. Sending prayers for a quick recovery!
  12. Welcome back! Love the bus
  13. November 27, 2007 Winslow lost his furry friend From Indi's caretaker (Glynis sent pictures) Indi is/was the baby camel......
  14. November 26, 2007 Good Morning Diane, How's everything at Casa Burpe? Is Tootsie feeling better? How was Thanksgiving? Here's the update from The House of Winslow: Last Wednesday, went for the weekly swim, as usual. Unfortunately, Indy the camel had a setback and they have started new medication. This is a TBD and it's really hard to treat. Winslow got to see him again, from a distance, but we couldn't get too close. The poor guy didn't look so good. We are wishing him well. Fatso is back up to 79 lbs. He's going to back off on the peanut butter and bananas. (Elvis). Later that day, I drove to Harrisburg and picked up the grandkids. They are really good with Winslow and old enough to know how to respect his space. He was happy to see them. Surprisingly happy. Usually there is a little pouting on Winslow's part because of the loss of attention. Not this time. Hmmm. Maybe he's growing up... or they are. Wednesday night, I found a TICK on Winslow's neck. Although I hate it, I give him Frontline plus because here in VA, the ticks are really bad. I have never found one attached to him. Usually they hitchhike into the house on him and then I either find them running around on him OR on me. I vacuum constantly..Winslow, the bed, the furniture... part of that is tick paranoia. I'm always checking. One of our human neighbors had Lyme disease and nearly died. DOES IT EVER GET TOO COLD FOR THEM? This tick was firmly ATTACHED to Winslow's neck. I don't think it was there too long because it wasn't fat. I was able to get some fine tweezers in there and uprooted it. After close examination with a magnifying glass, I determined that there were no parts left inside the dog. Winslow was a champ about the whole thing. He just sat there. The very last thing we need is a TBD. I think I'm just going to have them run a tick panel at his next cancer check up in January. Meanwhile I'll be watching for any oddities. Do you have any other suggestions? When he had the malamute foot incident, they did a tick panel and all was well. We went out to dinner for Thanksgiving, but I did cook a turkey breast for Winslow. Surprised? Friday, the family went downstairs to play music. (Craig and they kids all play instruments). Winslow went along. He was dancing around and throwing his toy in the air. It was really funny. They played their instruments and he played the squeaker on his toy. Again, surprising, because Winslow usually doesn't like all the noise. He really wanted to be a part of it. So, the band played on. I envision drum lessons in Winslow's future. Craig and the kids filled the bird feeders and hung them from the deck. Winslow enjoys watching the birds from the kitchen windows. He still spends his mornings out there in the cold... I think he wonders why the birds don't come back while he's out there. He keeps watching for them. So, all is well here. The kids went home yesterday. Craig got to do the 3 AM Jammy jog last night. I'm sitting here by the window, watching Winslow nap in the cold of the deck. He will come in and ask for his egg and then off for his morning snooze on the sofa. Yep, we're thankful. Glynis

  16. Did the vet do a biopsy? Have you been to a specialist? Have you tried a no grain food?
  17. Austin had a soft tissue osteosarcoma (yes, that is correct terminology) in roughly the same place. Because of Austin's damaged heart (heartworm before he was adopted), I decided against chemo. He had it removed in November and it returned in February. Dr. Couto is familar with this type of cancer and I'd contact Ohio State for guidance. Sending lots of prayers.

  19. My chiropractic vet (who will be opening a rehab center soon), told me the old surgery was just as successful and there is less of a chance of blowing out the other side. I'll ask her again on Monday when I talk to her.
