  1. Please extend my sympathy to her.
  2. I know how difficult it is Sending my sympathy.
  3. Was he tested for babesia? Other than a tbd, I'm out of suggestions.... Sending prayers.
  4. Sending lots of prayers. You can stop pred suddenly depending on the amount of time he's been on it. It is something you MUST ask your vet about and not do on your own. He's not old for a greyhound
  5. Results -- Doxy, at a strong dose, 5 or 6 days, or if you start with a shot of doxy and dexamethasone and follow up with oral, around 3 days. If he has babesia canis doxy nor zithromax will help. It won't hurt to try the zithromax--I think you'd know in a few days.
  6. Yes. I use certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association http://www.avcadoctors.com/avcadus.htm
  7. Good point. Call Ohio State asap as it is Friday and they are on Eastern time.
  8. There are several TBDs that respond to different antibiotics. Has he been tested for RMSF? Have they treated him for lepto? Dr. Couto mentioned he has seen an increase in bartellenosis (sp) and that the treatment is zithromax. If nothing shows, it won't hurt to try it. Even with prilosec (which is a good med), he needs carafate! also: you or your vet can call or email Ohio State: Medical Consult: greyosu@osu.edu (614) 292-3551
  9. I think about you often! Poor Scooby Did he improve after the doxy? What are his platelets? If he is on the pred he needs the carafate as well as pepcid, tagamet or zantac. Milk thistle is good for the liver. Sending many prayers!
  10. Would she like a soft crate? Sending soft hugs
  11. I'd do a tick panel. May or may not show positive. With the ones I have under 150,000, I put them on doxy (my vets are on board with this) and see what happens in 4 weeks. If the numbers dramatically jump up, I leave them on doxy for 8 weeks. For instance, Huston went from 104 to 179,000.
  12. Did they put her on antibiotics?
  13. Yes I do know how you feel! re pred: get him on carafate asap (generic is sulcrafate). Vets do not understand how much it is needed. If I hadn't been on pred for 6 years, I wouldn't either, or dealt with Burp. I've never had good luck with pepcid. Can you try zantac instead? Either 150 twice a day or 300 at bedtime. Prilosec is also a possibility. I use that as the last resort. All of these with carafate! Sounds like something is in Battle's foot. Obviously, if he's biting at it, it hurts. Poor guy. Lump could be anything. Sending prayers. another
  14. Hi Judy! Take Ziggy to an eye specialist
  15. Sending prayers. Have you talked with the vet about having IV valium you can give rectally when this happens?
  16. If the vet cannot give you answers, it's time for a specialist! Sending prayers.
  17. Is this vet familar with greyhound heart sounds? I'm too familar with cardio as I lost my Dobe Chrissy to it. I'd send an email to Ohio State and ask about this. Supplements: CQ10
  18. Sending lots of prayers and soft scritches and good thoughts for soft grass
  19. Most of the vets now acknowledge we have been over vaccinating for years. The latest guidelines: http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showtopic=128246&hl=
