  1. It never gets easier (and it shouldn't) Think about her running like the wind, ears flapping Sending my sympathy
  2. With kidney disease, no NSAIDs and that includes aspirin. I'd just keep it clean--running plain tepid water over it would be fine. Unless you see any change of course like the paw swelling, she should be ok until Monday morning. I'm one of the few but with this kind of injury I let them be--that way she won't overdo it
  3. He gets platelets from a transfusion. I am confused. Sending lots of prayers!
  4. Sending lots of prayers! Can't they get blood from Hemopet? What about clotting agents?
  5. Not sure what makes the vet think Previcox is any different from the other NSAIDs? They are all the same. If there are liver issues, do NOT use it. Why not use tramadol?
  6. Tootsie has good days and bad days She gets adjusted once a week now. If the vet didn't come to the house, it would be very rough. So yes, they have days where the knuckling is worse than others. Seems to go with the weather too--rainy days are rough. Sending lots of prayers.
  7. I had to do the Heimlich on Rob Roy (who weighed around 78# or more) and I did it with him standing up. It took 3 or 4 tries and out popped a piece of kibble. Here is a brochure that is on my website on the products page (in case you forget). Print it out and put it on the fridge or inside a cupboard in the kitchen. There was no way I could put Rob on the ground -- I was over him and did the thrusts with him and I both standing: Heimlich and CPR I know how frightening it is
  8. Please email me and I'll try & find someone close to you to help.
  9. Acupuncture and chiropractic may help. Email me your city/state and I'll do some looking Burpdog@msn.com Instead of valium, I'd go with robaxin. Sending prayers!
  10. It was 40 degrees out there, wind blowing and the water was FREEZING!! Of course after the video, Winslow just decided to lay down, IN THE WATER! He was laughing about it! Glynis

  14. Seeing the pictures just brought tears to my eyes! May 13, 2008 Hi Diane, How's everything with you? Mizzy? The rest of the pack? We're back from vacation and all is well. Winslow had the best time ever. I'll explain that in a minute. But first, I need to know if you have a link to the auction. I want to put it on my blog. Also, I'll take another photo of Winslow's painting if you need it. Let me know. Now, for the news: We went on Winslow's annual vacation to Montauk. On the first day, we went as far as Deer Park, NY. We have friends there and Winslow loves going to their house. He showed off by throwing his toy all around their living room and acting like a puppy. He got the usual chinese food broccoli with the sauce washed off and settled down for a nap. Then it was on to Happauge where we stayed at the Sheraton because Winslow has a pillow that he loves. He got to sleep on the bed with the beloved pillow. It's the annual routine and he knew just what to do. We do the same thing every year and he remembers it. The next day it was on to Montauk where the weather was cold and windy. Perfect for a greyhound with a broken thermostat. Did I mention that we took both big and little fanny, just in case? Winslow did all of his usual things. He had fun on the beach (I froze),then a trip to the BOOK HAMPTON in Sag Harbor where DOGS ARE WELCOME. Winslow does love a good story and since his race name was LIBORIO, it's only right to take him to browse the bookstore. We support them because they like dogs. We took him to his favorite pet store where he got a new toy. A very odd looking pig, but he is in love. We visited friends in Montauk who love Winslow and make all the special arrangements for him. He loves their sofa. We visit often. Winslow spent a week sniffing out all the old spots and creating new ones. He had a great time. I've attached some photos. We did a movie on the beach as well. I'll send you the youtube link tomorrow. They are doing site maintenance tonight, so it's down. Last year when we took Winslow to the beach, he didn't do a lot. He was still getting chemo and really wasn't feeling all that great. He did some stuff and had a good time, but nothing like this year. He was glad to be back and enjoyed every minute. So did we. It was priceless and made the whole ordeal of last year worthwhile, just to see him so very happy and in good health. Keep in touch. Glynis

  18. Make sure the chondroitin is from bovine--no shark cartiledge. Springtime's Joint Health has it all and you can add Fresh Factors. I'd be loading her up right now. My DD had a Sheltie with legg pyrthese (I don't know how to spell it) and he had the head of the femur removed. He lived a long life She got a CD on him, the stopped--we didn't want to jump him.
  19. Here is a good explanation of the disorder and treatments available. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cl...p;articleid=444 How old is she now?
