  1. Sending lots of prayers! Take your medicine Loca
  2. Austin had a pretty bad prostrate infection before he was neutered. Treated it, neutered him and it never returned. Hopefully the atbs will fix him right up I will say, though, that I've not seen a prostrate infection in a neutered male. I wouldn't worry yet. Had his prostrate been checked via exam previously? Sending prayers
  3. Sending my sympathy We always second guess ourselves. The surgery you mention was quite involved and in my opinion, if it was in the leg and in the stomach, she had it other places. Fighting one battle is tough, but two is extremely difficult. She is very beautiful and running like the wind, checking out all the boys in Rainbow Land
  4. If they did a biopsy, they should be able to tell you which fungal! Do you have the biopsy report? No I would not treat at this time--however, ask Dr. Holland. You must get a good answer on the fungal issue!
  5. I have a feeling it is not recurring, it's not been gone. Two weeks may or may not be long enough on the baytril. Are you giving filtered water?
  6. Has he thyroid been tested? Try xanax instead of elavil. I know with Tootsie, valium was worthless as was melatonin & rescue remedy. My vet makes a combination of bach flowers that works better than just rescue remedy and if you want herbal, Calm Spirity by Health Concerns takes the edge off. It must be ordered by a vet or MD.
  7. doxy does not treat Babesia Canis. Are you sure it was not erlichia? If erlichia, how long and at what dose was he treated? Fungal from fecal?
  8. Did you test for Valley Fever? Which fungal disease is your vet talking about?
  9. Glad he is doing well! Trying to keep a 13 month old calm is going to be quite difficult. Lots of puzzle balls?
  10. I know how you feel about Flash and I know how exhausted I was doing hospice on two dogs let alone a dog and two people! I don't know if this has been mentioned, but assuming he is on stomach meds: do not mix foods trying to get him to eat. Most of them (all that I have had) will not eat mixed foods. You have better luck finding one thing they like. If you put one thing in they like and there are 1 or more they don't, they won't eat. Most of those who are having a problem eating, will eat late at night better than during the day. Warmed is more enticing than room temp or cold. I would take straight EVO canned and warm it a little. Annie loves chicken, won't touch beef (same brand). Rotissere or fried turkey or chicken is usually a hit (turkey more than chicken) Macaroni & cheese sometimes works. Lunch meat usually will go over ok. I remember Hattiemae putting different things on a paper plate and turning the plate until her girl found what she wanted. No mixing. I wish I were close enough to help..... Sending prayers.
  11. Check his records and see when he was last wormed. Have you done a vet visit yet? I always take a new adoption in to at least meet the vet. Many vets don't charge for a new adoption visit Did you change his food? You can try all chicken (no skin) and see if he gets better.
  12. It sounds like she started with an infection and you've not gotten it cleared up. Either the wrong atb or not long enough. Here is everything you want to know about bacteria Bacteria Types of tests from lab: Lab readings Do you have her on at least 6 acidophillus pills a day? I would wipe her butt with a baby wipe after she goes. Since she is not totally solid, maybe(?) she is getting fecal material downward. Has she had a TBD panel?
  13. One of the important things you neglected to mention: does she have good poop????
  14. Ignore those comments. Let's talk about it What tests has she had done and what treatments? List them all and we'll put our heads together to see if we see anything!
  15. Sending prayers! I know what you mean about expensive. Burp was on baytril for 3 weeks once and when he had his gastritis, zithromax (before generic) for 3 weeks! Are you giving her bottled water?
  16. Sending my sympathy How great they found you Run like the wind boys!
  17. I wonder if they used ace promazine. She shouldn't have been out that long. As a side note, I never give vaccines at the same time they go under.
  18. I think it depends This page has some very good explanations related to cancer. I could not find yet, how ones tells visually the difference between hemangioma and hemangiosarcoma. Dogs & Cancer
  19. I remember you getting Jamey. Sending prayers..... Make sure the vet understands that it is a fine needle biopsy.
  20. I believe this to be true in Danes, but not sure about greys (retired racers, not AKC) because the incidence is so low. I believe stress plays the biggest role. Exercise, medical or emotional stress is all the same. When talking with a vet about my stress theory, he agreed telling me about a cocker that bloated while in for boarding. As many would say--cockers don't bloat. But he/she did. Experience has provided me with the following: no running (or stress--could be a trip to the vet) one hour before and two hours after feed from a raised feeder no soy based dog food or dog food with soy For many years I had the only Dane that I knew of, that had torsion, lived and never had a repeat incident (I've heard of one other in the last few years). By the time she was on the table (after two other vets misdiagnosed her), her kidneys had quit and the vet gave me a 30% chance of her living. She made it and I made the changes noted above. At the time she bloated I fed a dog food with soy and bowls on the floor. She lived 4 years after the bloat incident. The next Dane that bloated I euthanized She had Addison's and I had made the decision long before that if she ever did bloat, I would send her off. Her sire had bloated as well as relatives. As a side note I had waited 13 years to get another Dane and only had her 22 months--brought her home as a 4 month old pup When Burp went into bloat, it was after a boarding of 5 or 6 days while I was on vacation, and he received half his heart medicine and was bitten by spiders. Fortunately he did not go into torsion. Tubed him twice and he was fine. I changed nothing (type of food, still the raised feeder) after that incident and he did not bloat again. I think the no exercise (stress) one hour before and two hours after is so easy to follow, why not!
  21. Not sure about that one, but anything is possible Have you done a TBD panel?
  22. Yes, and like Batmom said, I'd do a TBD panel including VF.
