  1. Dogs can test negative for erlichia if they are in crisis. Has he been on 5mg per # of body weight twice a day for 8 weeks at a time? What are his platelets, HCT and RBC? Has he had a urine culture done? edited to add: what did the vet test for TBDs? everything doesn't tell us which ones
  2. I can't remember so don't yell at me Did they do a snap in the office or send it off to Protatek or NCU? If NC, which TBDs did they test for?
  3. Did you ever do a tick panel on him?
  4. I feel like I've known him forever! Sending my sympathy and hugs. It's never easy....
  5. April 2, 2009 Winslow went for his three month checkup today Hi Diane, Winslow's vet appt. went well. We missed Joy, but Jessi was there to take care of him and he knows her, so it was ok.. The blood, urine and radiology won't be back until tomorrow, but they looked at his films and saw nothing obvious. Also his physical check up was very good. Dr. C. commented on his heart and how perfect his heart rate is even under a bit of stress. Says it's from the swimming. So all the obvious stuff is very good. Eyes, ears, teeth, lymph nodes, etc. The only difference was the price increase of 100. KA-CHING!! Now I wait until tomorrow for the rest of it. Yuk. If all is well, we discuss 4 month intervals. How's everything at your house? G.
  6. Hopefully it's a UTI? They don't have much of an appetite if they are in renal failure. Sending prayers!
  7. When I added morphine to Mahogany's tramadol, it didn't drug her up but she didn't want to eat much.
  8. Sending prayers for peace and comfort....
  9. What a sweet looking guy Sending my sympathy -- I know how hard it is.
  10. I haven't used him however have sent him referrals -- Dr. Gaston is very good. I heard him speak at Bluegrass a few years ago.
  11. Well, you know what my opinion is Which glucosamin/chondroitin are you using? How much? Imo, 10 1/2 is very young to be started on NSAIDs. FYI : since Eliza's death, I have not used NSAIDs--I've found other alternatives. edited to add: if you are going to use a NSAID: make sure you do a baseline blood test, then one in two weeks, then one in four weeks. Get a product insert and understand the possible side affects. For instance, some vets still do not know that rimadyl can cause kidney issues, they only know about liver. Monitor platelets in addition to liver and kidney function in the follow up blood tests.
  12. What you can do is make him comfortable (just metacam is not enough, should be a combination probably tramadol) and enjoy every day you have! Make memories and take pictures.
  13. sending my sympathy Please do a write up on her if you haven't already in Rememberance and tell us about her. No, blood work would not show anything. I remember talking with the vet and how angry I was that Mahogany had to leave because of osteo--she had perfect blood work up to the end
  14. Where are you located? Sending prayers!
  15. I know what you are going through and it's not easy
  16. Burp would eat anything, anytime, unless you mixed in tylosin. I had to get capsules and stuff them. You can find capsules at a drug store. Just be careful you don't lick your fingers after stuffing....nasty, nasty stuff
  17. As Batmom asked: what is the BUN and creatine? How are her teeth? Did they culture the urine? Did they try clavamox just because?
  18. I saw on the tick list, a papillon news alert regarding a papillon that was very ill. Turns out that he/she was diagnosed with American Canine Hepatozoonosis and this was the second case the vet had seen. Quite frightening actually. (permission given to cross post) I found this link on the disease: ACH
  19. Vet check in order. Did you change foods? Does he eat things he shouldn't?
  20. Sending lots of prayers for a quick and uneventful recovery!
  21. I emailed Shelby, hopefully she will see this. Has he done a tick panel? What does her blood work look like? did you see this vet on the pinned list? Dr. Bill Neumann Broad Ripple Animal Clinic 6225 N. Broadway Indianapolis, IN 46220 (317) 257-5334 Mon - Thurs: 7 am - 8 pm Fri: 7 am - 6 pm Sat: 8 am - 3 pm Dr. Neumann was, until very recently, a board member of and consultant to GPA Indy. He's still very committed to GPA, and he's a very friendly, very informed, good guy.
  22. Sending more prayers. Was a tick panel done or just a snap? Which tick diseases were checked for? What were the results? edited to add: you live in tick country and 2007 was two years ago......
