I got this method from one of my groups now retired board members. And I used this method to teach my girl Angel the stairs and it works well. With a leash on the dog. Very confindently go over the stairs and just walk up them. Don't stop at the bottom before you start going up them. Just go and the dog will have to follow you. and then when you get to the top praise them like crazy! And then try going back down. it works easier if they are next to a wall going both ways. I did this method with a hound I was doing a adoption for in March. Her foster home tried teaching her stairs. But the stairs had open backs. So she freaked and wouldn't do them. But once I got her to my house and did that method. She was doing stairs like a champ at my house and at her new home!

My two eat the Chicken and Rice from Costco and aren't having any issues. But I did notice the bag just before the 2 I just last sunday did seem to have a lot of crumbs in it. But this bag seems fine to me.

I would keep an eye out for fleas if you live in a warm part of the country.

Angel is always roaching. Fast does from time to time. Freddie can't. He's just to dang big to roach, he's almost 100 pounds. He tries but he just can't his back legs up there.

Both of mine get the Costco brand dog food. I get the Chicken, Rice and Veggie and there canned dog food too.

Oh Kari! I am soo sorry! It was a year ago yesterday that we put Brooke to sleep due to Osteo. She was a week short of 12 when she DX. And she made it 9 months with the cancer. We spoiled her rotten.She was started on Dermaxx right away. And then about a month after we found out she had cancer, we started her on Tramadol for pain. We also put her on a grain free diet. The only thing she would eat for the last 6 months we had her was hamburger and rice with some grain free Fromm's mix in. Weather that helped her last longer? I don't know. But from what I've read it that grain is a food for the cancer to feed on.

Rawhides are a big no-no in my house! I've had a dog choke on them once they start getting small.

I am to hear that you daughter is ok. Some dogs don't like being leaned over. Did she maybe lean over her and scare her? For now if you daughter wants to pet the dog. Have her call the dog over to her. Instead of her petting the dog on her dog bed.

My girl Angel gets fed Fromm's adult gold. Her brother Fast gets Costco Chicken and Rice. He came to us eating that. We did try him on the food that Angel get for about a month. And it didn't work soo good for us. I am going to try Angel on the Costco food and see how that goes.
