  1. Thanks, all, for the Warm Willa Welcome! Doolin is in love, despite her being a bit pushy gluttonous curious about everything. He is such a good, tolerant boy. She is going to keep us on our toes, I think. Signed, Figuring It Out in Nashville
  2. We miss you very much, Aiden our friend. Extra lubs to Miss Jan and the girls today.
  3. She looks tiny to us too but actually weighs a few more pounds than Sweep did! She's 65.5 lbs right off the track to Sweep's 58 in her racing days. I would never have guessed she weighs this much. My dad really wants me to name her Banjo. My husband is pushing for Willadean Winkles.
  4. When your littermate becomes available for adoption, there's only one thing to do... This is CBJ Villain aka Villa (probably changing to Willa), who joined us yesterday. Despite her intense stare she is a sweet, curious girl and her brother seems absolutely thrilled to have her here. The hoomans are a bit "What have we done?" but we're trainable. So far, so good with the cats and no sibling squabbles yet.
  5. Hi, and welcome! Benji is gorgeous and most importantly has found the couch already! "Loves strokes and snoozing"—yep, you have a greyhound! We're here to help when and if you decide to introduce the pups, or as other questions come up. Congrats on your new family member!
  6. I take breaks when he's asleep. Oh, this boy's a champion whiner, too. Several years ago on this forum, someone referred to it as "heening" and that is the perfect description. Heen heen heeeeeeeeeen. Grace. Sweep also used to chatter when I put her collar on.
  7. Thanks for this. I wasn't comfortable with the thought of doing nothing. We're taking him next Tuesday morning for the Profender treatment.
  8. I'll be interested to hear the replies, as Doolin (home ~2 months) has done this a couple of times to wooden furniture. He stops immediately when corrected and has no interest yet in Nylabones or the like. He did take off with the Furminator the other day when I was brushing him and gnawed on the rubber handle for a couple of minutes. My suspicion is just "weirdo greyhounds" but I'd love to hear what others think.
  9. Doolin would be a proctologist. That boy is the definition of velcro dog! Sweep would have been an orthodontist, of course.
  10. Yep, that's exactly the article he was looking at when we spoke. We talked for about 30 minutes, and he's been in practice for almost 40 years, so I couldn't trust him more. I'm inclined to go for it. Am I nervous? Absolutely. But yes, Doolin is still squeaky, does that nipping at his sides and butt thing, and has so-so poops. So it seems like the way to go. I am comforted by the fact that it's already approved for use in the EU. I'll keep you all posted!
  11. What a relief! I can relate. In her last months, Sweep stood on her bed after a nap and a long, whitish string of goo was dangling from her belly. I thought, omg, what is that, did her soft tissue sarcoma burst? Does she have another issue I don't know about? Panic panic panic. On closer inspection, it was a piece of string cheese that she'd been lying on until it was nice and melty from her body heat.
  12. I wasn't either! I should have specified that in my original post, but I have mush-brain from analysis paralysis.* *and possibly from my very cute 5:30AM alarm clock
  13. Moxidectin is the active ingredient in Advantage Multi, the same as what's in the ProHeart injection he got in May. That's why their skepticism. Whomp whomp. We could do nothing and he said the hooks should die off in about two years.
  14. No change in Doolin's squirm count. They are interested in trying Profender. Doolin would be their guinea pig. I asked the vet if he would do it for his own dog and he said yes. Because Doolin already had the ProHeart shot in May and has had two rounds of Drontal with no change, they're skeptical that any further rounds would do anything. (This is Grassmere, so they know their greyhounds.) I'm considering it. 99.7% effective is compelling. But a sample size of 17 is not. Decisions, decisions.
  15. Lamb for dinner! Silly Annie. Punkin, we are so happy you're feeling moar better!
  16. You're safe! He'll be statued in my front yard.
  17. Fortunately, yes. No potty accidents in a couple of weeks now. However, he still cockadoodle-doolins between 5 and 6 a.m., so feel free to bring on your morning-themed songs a la "Morning Has Broken"!
