    Run free, sweet Roy....
  2. So sorry for you. ...But it sounds like he lived a wonderful life full of love.
  3. I know it sounds crazy, but one time our old boy EZ got dirt between his toes and refused to walk. My husband carried him a quarter mile uphill back home....maybe it's something as simple as dirt or a pebble stuck between his pads....Good luck!!
  4. Congrats. She's beautiful....and welcome from Rhode Island.
  5. My boys had dentals on Monday....Both ate that night - but then one vomited (vet says normal - just from anesthesia). Anyway, by next morning, the pain must have set in in his mouth and he would not eat anything. I even boiled soft pasta.....he would lick off the chicken broth and sour cream, but would not eat.....Later that night, I ground up a meatball and he finally broke down....and that was for just a dental....sounds like your baby had more invasive work......Can you call the vet? Maybe they can just ease your mind.....but I bet it's because the surgery was pretty extensive.....And...you do need to get the meds in....maybe they have a suggestion.
  6. I'm relatively new to GT.....and sadly, Jack died of post surgical complications from the corn just a few weeks ago....my heart just broke....I had tried the Dr. Scholl's stuff, therapaw boots, winter boots, etc....everything but duct tape, which I knew he would not like....and everyone said how easy the surgery was.....He walked OK with a winter boot on, but I know that they eventually have to be dealt with or they are debilatating.....At least I know now for my old boy EZ if he gets them, and my very new adoptees..... Thanks!
  7. In the meantime, until you get the harness, you can always take a very large towel and loop it under her stomach and use it almost as a sling to help her down the stairs....it's not ideal, but until you have a harness, you don't want to take any changes!! Good luck.
  8. Oh...how I wish that I had known about this one month ago.....I never would have sent Jack for surgery that day if I had thought there were more options to try.......At least for the future, we know there are more choices out there! Thanks for sharing.
  9. No medical advice......just want to say that I fully respect and admire your decision to consider his quality of life. That take HUGE strength. My prayers are with you. Enjoy every minute of your time with him.
  10. Wonderful news!!!! I was watching for your post!!!! As I said, EZ lost 17 teeth...but he too has his canines.....looks a little funny when he smiles particularly on the bottom where none of the teeth in between remain.....but we still think he is gorgeous!!
  11. Hi Kyle....be sure to let us know as soon as she is out!! These have got to be the worst few hours for any of us who own these sweet babies!! I'll ship you my mom's meatballs if she doesn't want to eat after!!! LOL By the way...my EZ who is 10 had 17 teeth removed last year....and he came through great.....adapted well. We do usually wet his food so that the pieces don't slide down an make him choke....but he basically does great....chews dog biscuits, treats, etc.
  12. He's doing much better today. It's almost like he got his confidence when he ate the meatball...and realized that they didn't hurt that badly! Thank you for the encouragement!
  13. Mom's meatballs did the trick tonight!! Leave it to Grammy to have the cure. I was able to get his pain meds and antibiotics in him tonight. I got the antibiotics in this morning - but he didn't want to hear it w/the pain meds....so vicious circle, I think!
  14. Thanks everyone! I know I'm worrying unnecessarily, but my other ones have rebounded quickly! I just ground up one of my mom's meatballs! He doesn't even want to eat pasta. He just licks it and spits it out. We'll try the meatballs.
  15. Sure. It was Dr. Hunley at the Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich. Phone number (410) 886-6787. Just as an FYI, it did take me three weeks to get an appointment. Thanks!
  16. Do you mind sharing the name of the RI vet? I always like to be prepared just in case.....Our EZ had a soft-tissue tumor removed about 18 months ago. Clean margins....so far so good, but I always like to be ready of something should change.
  17. My two boys had their first dentals yesterday. One is doing just fine - the other doesn't want to eat anything that he has to chew....even pasta. He will eat ground tuna, pumkin, and lick chicken broth. When our old boy had a dental and had 17 teeth removed, he was trying to eat by the next morning!! Anybody out there have a more delayed willingness to chow??
  18. My thoughts are with you. She was so blessed to have you especially as a younger dog - when so many others wouldn't give her the chance.
  19. Our older boy, EZ never has played. He's a pretty serious fellow who would rather have a great ear rub. My Jack, who just passed, loved to run around and steal my shoes and move all of his toys around the house - as well as move all of his beds - he rearranged his furniture routinely. We just got our two new little ones....The baby does not play, but JJ is amazed by squeaking ducks....and he has figured out how to find the squeaker and squeak away.....even at 3:30 in the morning!!!
  20. Yogurt never hurts! You can give probably 1/3 of a tub a day (not the tiny tub) for a few days until his stools firm up. It is safe. Your vet might also be able to give you some flora - it usually is a powder for their food. I've used both at the same time w/good results.
