  1. I was in such a panic - I wanted to get him home and to the evet. The kid did immediately say "he's had all his shots" but I think even he was a bit shell-shocked. I know I should probably ask them to pay....
  2. JJ, Dustin, and I were out for an afternoon walk and went by a house we go by all the time. In fact, the guys who live there always come out and say "hi" to my boys. Today when I went by their dog started barking in the house. That dog never barks when I go by - in fact, I didn't know they had a dog. One of the guys opened the door and out came the dog attacking my two boys. I couldn't let go of either, because I was afraid Dustin would bolt. The dog was a mix - short and stocky with ears and muzzle like a shepard. Anyway, Dustin got away unscathed though a bit scared. But JJ had a big puncture in his rear. The dog had no collar so even the owner couldn't grab him - it took the two of them to get him off. Once he actually made contact, he was coming more aggressively. Took JJ to the evet. Because there's not a lot of tearing - and it looks like a deep puncture, he doesn't want to stitch. Rimadyl, antibiotics, icing now, and warm compresses later. Poor boy..... I am rattled. In fact, I really was not terribly composed through the whole thing because I felt helpless. This is not hte first time in the neighborhood this has happened. The grey next door had a nasty bite from a dog down the street that ran out of a house after her. I actually, though I felt bad, tried to kick the dog off. I didn't have much choice - and my boy was getting hurt.
  3. I'm so sorry for you on all fronts.
  4. EZ is missing 17 teeth after one major dental. The rest don't look good. But he does just fine withouth those 17. Good luck. Robin
  5. Same problem here though autumn is coming.
  6. Our Senior EZ goes on major hunger strike - so some of these mix-in's don't work for him and he holds out for meat only!! LOL!!! Hot dogs Gravy (human kind) Yogurt Shredded Mozarella Pumkin (if we need a bit of "firming") Beans for a little protein (beware the results) Scallops and shrimp Any beef leftovers from DH!!! EZ - the finnicky one actually also likes vegetables, i.e. spinach Edited to add: Also, a mix of one tbsp of olive oil and one tbsp of cider vinegar is suppoesed to be excellent for the coat - but you have to cover the vinegar up w/some of them!
  7. No experience with dogs, but when my boy Chip (now at the bridge) started having seizures in his very old age, it was horrible to watch. You did everything right....i.e. keep the other dogs away, etc. All you can do is make sure that they have plenty of space with nothing that they can bump, etc. I would defer to dog-seizure moms and dads on medication.
  8. Oh...I am so sorry for you. No words can say enough.
  9. Many prayers. Please keep us posted.
  10. Funny you talk about the angels. Three nights ago, I dreamt (and I know if I told this story anywhere else, someone would have me locked up ) that I was out in my back yard with the boys and a greyhound flew - yes, with very large wings - over my yard and circled. It wasn't Jack - in fact, it was a brindle that looked a bit like my new boy Dustin - but I woke up shaking my head. Don't know if that was my Jackie's angel trying to bring me messages!! Yes....I think there is a bigger plan - and their's included taking my Jack with them.
  11. I understand that. One of the two that I just adopted is black and my DH felt that we should call him "JJ" for Jack Junior.
  12. So sorry for your loss.
  13. I'm so sorry for your loss.
  14. What a sad day I am having. Not only has it been 2 months to the day that I lost my beautiful boy Jack, but today also would have been his sixth birthday. So young to have passed to the bridge. I try to hang on to the wonderful times that I had in the two years that I had with him but the unexpected loss is still hard to come to terms with. One morning he was there and the next, he wasn't. But he is always in my heart.
  15. I am so sorry! Many prayers.
