  1. Sparks doesn't turn down the treats, that's for sure I'm hoping he doesn't want to go out for a few more hours. It really takes a lot of of him (and me) getting him out there. Guess I need to start thinking about quality of life...... Course this was my fault so the guilt isn't helping
  2. I tried the baby food last night and he refused it. He used to eat it but even the turkey that he was eating a few days ago, he's refusing. I just got him to drink water and eat some meat roll. Then we went out potty and now he's resting again. Just put a harness on him and it did help- thanks I'll try the sweatshirt- thanks, didn't think of that I'm just sitting here in tears. I'll try to get some sand but I don't want to leave him alone
  3. We got hit with an ice storm this weekend. It was awful! I dreaded taking Sparks out because of his bad back and being so wobbly walking. Saturday night when I got home from work- I took Sparks out first and kept the others in the bedroom. I put towels down on the patio stairs and patio- we did those without a problem (me holding on to his collar). He walked to his pee spot just fine- then crossed over the sidewalk and slipped. I was still holding him but he hurt his back anyway. I feel horrible- the worst mom ever. He's hardly wanted to eat the last few days. I started him back on tramadol. He was hopping a bit walking but walking ok yesterday'last night. This morning it was still slick. I was helping him down the stairs and one of the dogs pushed open the door (I had them closed in the other room) and ran out side. He ran right into me and Sparks on the stairs. Sparks didn't fall but he spun around and landed on the bottom stair Now this afternoon he can't use his left, rear leg. I called the vet and I'm starting him back on pred. If he can't walk after 24 hrs, I have to take him in. I don't know what good that will do. We know what the problem is, his back. Other than giving him a shot, I don't see what else they can do. The getting him to the vet will be super stresful on him and I can't get him into my car very easily. Winter sucks Please keep my Sparks in your thoughts. I have to get him to eat something and right now the only thing he will eat is those meat rolls. I even cooked him turkey last night which he refused and refused again this morning
  4. Did you ever meet that female you were interested in?
  5. Port Washington: There is a limit of no more than two dogs and two cats per household. http://www.pwpd.org/faq_pets.html You'd probably need to look up each city to find the pet ordinance.
  6. I keep copies in my glove box and have since adopting my first hound. Also keep a copy of the greyhound anesthesia protocol in there as well.

  9. This brought tears to my eyes. I really admire all that you are doing for her. I know we all want to do what is best but I think you are doing awesome! Great pictures too!
  10. Mine get their shots there and they are also blood donors so they get many exams over the year.
  11. He's been eating his chicken- 2 a day. Still not enough per day but it's progress
  12. Yep and that's exactly how I've been feeling about my Sparks Hope he continues to do well
  13. My vet doesn't recommend hotdogs because of the fat, can you get low fat hotdogs? Cut them into tiny bits- that's what I used to do when I needed them for obedience class for Passion.
  14. I got 6 months for around $30 but can't recall where now. I got it in Jan so it was a lot cheaper. Don't use it anymore (use Adam's) and only used 1 application in Spring.
  15. Careful on the hotdogs- check the fat content
  16. Put stuff on the couch so he can't jump up there I have 3 couches in the living room but only 3 hounds actually go on the couch so there's still room for me
  17. He refused his raw last month- I'm blaming the predinose. I've been wearning him off (per my vet) and gave him his last pill Monday. I offered a chicken qtr which he didn't eat right away so I closed him in the spare room and about 5 mins later, he barked. I let him out and he had eaten it Gave him one for dinner last night-same thing, didn't eat right away. He ate both at his meals today I'm hoping he's finally back to eating again
  18. They nh where I work is very pet friendly and doesn't require pet visitors to be certified.. The 3 nh's that my grandma has lived in didn't require it either. I would just pick a nh, call them and ask what they require.
  19. Sparks had a FNA a few weeks ago. It was beneign did they have to put him out for that. How long before you found out after they did it? This two weeks before I go back is going to be horrible. And thats why I wondering if she decides to do it in two weeks - how much longer of a wait. No, they didn't give him anything and I wish they would have. He was freaking out. But he was on his back and I'm sure that wasn't the most comfortable. Results were supposed to be back in 24 hrs but it was another day. They did check the slide before I left the appt and they were pretty sure it was noithing. I pd extra ($146) to have a pathologist look at it to be 100% sure. So what did they do for it? And where was it if you don't mind me asking? The back xray showed a mss so I did an ultrasound for $454 and the FNA. It was his spleen. Turns out his has a huge spleen but it's healthy, he's healthy.
