I am sorry Chick is not doing well. I had a 6 year old male diagnosed with megaesophagus a few years ago. I do not recall my vet suggesting any particular position to eat or drink. What did work was giving 3 to 4 small meals a day, keeping him calm after eating, and having him remain standing for a short time after finishing eating. My vet also prescribed sucralfate every 8 hours to act as a protector from the acid/food coming back up. Best wishes for your little pup.

When checking his urine did they check specific gravity? That would be a problem related to diabetes insipidus. My four year old male grey was diagnosed with diabetes insipidus due to the same symptoms along with a very low specific gravity. He pees extremely large amounts of urine that is clear. He has been on desmopressin, which helps him concentrate his urine and not drink quite as much. He also went through several months of leaking/dripping urine but that resolved itself for whatever reason. Hope you can find some answers.

Happy 9th birthday Mesa Man! I miss you. This house has been so quiet since you left us on May 2, 2007 at only 6 1/2 years old. You could bark with the best of them! I know you were so misunderstood!!! I miss our long walks together. You were our "Handsome Ransom" for only two years but I hope they were good years for you. Sending lots of hugs and belly rubs your way my handsome boy.

Oh Vee we miss you so much. I can't believe it has been one year already since you left us so suddenly that afternoon. I am thankful that I could be with you so you didn't have to be alone. I wish I could have saved you. This house will never be the same without you. You made us laugh every day and we will always remember you. You were a great racer and friend. Oh Pam I am so sorry this happened to that handsome boy. I can imagine how hard it is for you to see him in pain. I will keep you and Cody in my thoughts and prayers and fingers crossed for a speedy and uneventful recovery.

My three year old male tested positive for three strains of lepto in the fall of 2008. These three strains are not covered by the traditional lepto vaccine. I believe there are seven strains of lepto. Maybe the Lepto 4 covers more strains? Just a thought. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will have some input. We had to put Sam on antibiotics for three months.
