Montauk Windsor, our best boy Ripken, came into our lives on a very snowy Saturday in March 1999. A silly 20 month old beautiful boy that changed our lives forever. Ripken was the happiest, sweetest dog I had ever met. He loved our daily walks in the neighborhood, truly believing everyone came outside just to see him. And he never disappointed, always giving a smile, a kiss, a roo, or wiggle butt to his admirers. He loved the neighborhood kids and often tried to get on the school bus with them. We are very thankful for the six years Ripken was a part of our family. Of course it was not near long enough. It was hard to see him suffer that last month as we tried so hard to get him healthy again. Ripken opened the door to greyhounds for us and we are so thankful for that. Happy birthday at the bridge my beautiful boy! You will always be loved and in our thoughts. We continue to share your stories. Really missing you today buddy...

Pam I am so sorry for you and your friend. May and Cody look so sweet in that picture together. I lost my girl Vee due to sudden cardiac failure. It was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. As I look back now I am thankful that I was there to hold her, comfort her, and kiss her goodbye. I am positive that May felt your love for her and went in peace. It is so kind of you to watch over your friends' greys when they can't. Remember last fall you generously offered to watch Sam and Jasmine for me (unfortunately Jazz has trouble making nice with cats!). But I would have loved for my pups to visit with you and Cody! I am so sorry for your sudden loss of Seany. He was a beautiful boy.

My boy Sam got into a "habit" of peeing in his crate. After we first got him he was able to stay dry in his crate for the first 5 or 6 months. Then one day he had a pee accident. After that day he started to pee in the crate a couple days a week, even if left for short times. After a few months he was peeing at least once a day (I come home at lunch time to take him out). Numerous vet visits and testing revealed no reason for the peeing. We even had him on antibiotics a couple times just to be sure. Then one day I bought him a soft sided crate and placed it in a different area of the house than his old crate. I placed a nice soft bed in the crate and gave him lots of treats. He also started on Prozac as my vet believed the peeing was behavioral. I am happy to say since the change to the soft crate Sam has been dry! No pee accidents in 6 months! Although a soft crate is not for all dogs. Dogs who chew when left alone or really hate being confined would not do well as they are obviously not as strong as a wire crate. If you try a soft sided crate I would definately monitor him at first.

I am so sorry for your loss of Diamond. She was a beautiful girl and so was Pearl. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you.

My 5 year old boy Sam is currently taking 20 mg with his breakfast. He had been taking 30 mg for about a year and now he is down to 20 mg. I didn't notice a difference when we lowered it. I get 90 capsules for $10 at Walmart.

I had a female that also experienced this vaginal discharge every couple months while I had her when she was 5 and 6 years old. It was actually less frequent the older she got. She was spayed at 5 years of age. The discharge was white (but sort of clear) and slimey. My vet thought when she was spayed the doctor did not remove all of her female parts and this resulted in her having a discharge. Not sure if this would be the case or not.

I am so sorry. This is similar to how I lost my girl Vee. After a necropsy my vet suspected sudden cardiac failure. She was 6 years old. Very sorry for your sudden loss.

I'm so sorry for you and Mara. My bridge boy Mesa was diagnosed with megaesophagus when he was 6 years old. He was also on sucralfate. We fed Mesa several small meals a day on a very high dish. We made him stand for several minutes after he finished eating. These things seemed to help him. I can't remember but I believe we blended his food. He eventually went very hoarse and couldn't bark. I hope others have good suggestions for you. Best wishes for Mara.
