I think I have the only dogs that don't go crazy over liver treats. 😢

I wonder if I could somehow shave the bully sticks down myself. Wearing gloves of course!

I wouldn't eat it, but the dogs will love it! Freezer burn can't really hurt dogs as far as I've experienced and read.

My dogs regularly get different sizes meals depending on what I pull out of the freezer. I'll feed a large meal, then a few smaller ones for the next couple days. You just can't measure out the exact portions when you feed whole hunks.

I would thaw, hack it in half with some really nice chicken shears (super sharp) and let each pup have a giant feast in the yard. No other food needed that day!

Yup! Tough love is sometimes necessary. I think our record is 5 days if I remember correctly. Sunshine recently went on a food strike while I was away at school. She would eat one day and skip the next, rinse and repeat. It didn't kill her.

Rainy is 10 now and she's much skinnier looking. She now eats twice the amount she used to and still looks skinny. I think it's muscle tone loss. She'll gladly eat extra, but isn't ravenous. Please go to the vet. I really hope it's something minor, but I'm very worried with those symptoms. :-(

Pork is fatty so can upset bellies, but I feed to the girls. Frozen chicken quarters also work well in the hot summer.

If I understand correctly, and that's a big IF! The alcohol helps bring out the effectiveness of the other ingredients. I could be way off though... Completely not sure if this is the right answer, but I probably wouldn't worry too much about a little bit of brandy. Especially if it's going to be cooked. I would feed my dogs a piece of rum cake with no worries... LOL I would be more concerned with the other herbal ingredients and making sure they were safe and at the correct dosage.

Oh wow! Thanks! I'll be in the look out for abcessing and itchiness. So far it seems dry not even the oily discharge. She completely acts like it's not even there. I'm so relieved that it's not a rush to the vet for a biopsy thing.

Glad to hear that other have them! Poor Poodle... He needs his own lumpy bump hip hop song. I tend to be anal about every bump so it's bothering me much more than it bothers her.

This is my first senior dog, so I'm trying not to panic about new things that pop up on Rainy. About 3 months ago she developed what looked like a big skin tag on the inside of her thigh. It was Squishy and I just watched it. It stayed the same so I stopped worrying and checking every day. I noticed today that it changed! It got twice as big and is now looking some cauliflowery. Still squishy. Can anyone identify this? Should I keep a watch on it? Or rush to the vet? Keep in mind my last employed day was Friday. So I now have lots of time to worry and not a lot of medical money income! LOL It's not sensitive and I can poke and roll it around without her objecting... Anyone's pup ever had one? Oh and it was a bit red because I was just messing with it. Normally it's a pink color.

I do 10% organ meat (5% of that liver) 80% muscle meat and 10% bone is our starting point and changed from dog to dog depending on poops. Rainy needs more bone than Sunshine to have perfect poops. But strangely over the past year Rainy has needed less bone in her diet. Maybe something to do with getting older?

We follow the prey model diet also. It takes a lot for a vet to actually get info about what we feed anymore. I've been berated way too many times, then I have to find a new vet when I figure out what an idiot that one is, etc. It's a viscous cycle! LOL They don't know enough about nutrition to really be much help anyways. If you're concerned you may want to seek out a canine nutritionist. I've always just researched on my own and done what seemed right for my dogs. If something seems off I try to adjust. We don't get too crazy about it and so far they are thriving! If you have any questions, just let us know and I can give you my version of an answer, which may be different from other's answers. I'm far from an expert. Our current vet didn't know until year #2. She kept commenting on their teeth being so great and told us to keep brushing them. I replied with "oh we are far too lazy to brush teeth in this household!" with a laugh. The vet just looked at me strangely and said "Well just keep doing what your doing" The next year the Vet asked flat out what I did for their teeth. She must have made a note in the file to follow up... I asked her if she wanted the truth? Then told her that we feed a raw diet and follow the prey model guidelines. This vet never made me feel bad. She said my dogs looked awesome and at this rate they will never need a dental. Keep doing what you're doing! We love this vet! She has great bedside manner and has been around the block enough to know that one solution doesn't always work for each dog. I always get treatment options and she talks me though the pros and cons of each one. ETA. Now I'm going to have to scroll on that post and watch her pictures move! LOL

I didn't post the before pics on FB. Last night she was doing zoomies outside, inside and thawing and catching her breath for 10 minutes, then fussing to go back outside and run in more circles! She still did zoomies this morning! LOL She was a crazed monkey! Here's one of the videos from last night Yes that was my anti scratch and rip the bandaging tactic. It was like a strategic war to keep her bandages on.

Actually when I removed the stitches I was nervous. The only other stitch removal I've experienced was on a Boston terrier foster who had her eyes removed. She was a snarling mess as they were taken out. Sunshine fell asleep on the couch... LOL I was ready with peanut butter, a muzzle, and BF to restrain if need.

She is a champion sulker! LOL The drain was stitched in. All the vet did was take the top stitch out, the bottom stitch, cut the top of the tube so she wouldn't pull the dirty part through, then it just fell out! I brought a muzzle and asked if I should muzzle her, etc. My exact words were "That's it? Well I feel stupid for driving over here..." Vet laughed and said she hoped there wasn't a next time, but if there is, I'm now educated. Love our vet! She also told me just to take the stitches out myself on day 14. At that point here wound looked amazing since the hole at the bottom hadn't opened yet. She might have given different instructions if the stitches doesn't look tight. Although I'm not sure new stitches would have held. Blah! I'm glad it's over
