  1. LOL I have no idea! But it's hysterical! Hoping they are fed outside? Maybe it's a marking the food dish thing?
  2. She may be to far gone for this to help. Last night Rainy wouldn't stop panicking unless she was touching me. We ended up in the bedroom of the trailer with both AC units cranked, fan high, TV blasting. She was all panting and the TV was making me crazy so I turned that off. Put both hands on her while she was laying down and panting. Took a deep breath and exhaled. I imagined pushing all the tension out of my body with each breath. Nice calming relaxing thoughts... She stopped panting by my third feel breath. Thought that was kind of cool! LOL might have been a coincidence, but still very interesting to me
  3. Or chuck a milkbone at her. Wake up and get a treat! Yum
  4. Most greyhounds are fine. You just want me adopters to be very careful! Big teeth equals a big potential liability. Even though Rainy isn't happy about people touching her while she sleeping is something we worked on. Tossing treats at her head while sleeping, stuffies, rolled up socks, etc. I wouldn't trust her with 100 percent with anyone. Just cause mommy can do it doesn't mean the BF can do it to her ;-) I see it as being along the same lines as making sure we have zero food guarding and aggression. I want to make sure I can stick my hands in their mouth and yank anything out that I need to. Mess with them while eating, have my hands in the food bowl, etc. All sorts of things you should never do to a large dog EVER! But I try to bomb proof them as much as I can. Sunshine my spooky one came worth zero space issues :-) she had plenty of other issues! LOL Throw a soft toy at her while she sleeping. You'll find out her reaction while being at a safe distance
  5. Just wait until you can dremel while he roaches on the couch. So much more back friendly!
  6. I wouldn't take too much stock in the after stuff. Usually if the dog has been removed from the situation it's forgotten. Unless your dealing with a huge spooky pup, but you weeps know that right off! The more he gets out and greets others the more relaxed he will become. You won't recognize his behavior a year from now :-)
  7. Could be a play thing... Sometimes Rainy will jump back in play when meeting another dog. OR she will jump back and snarl. At GIG this year she was meeting so many big boys that would poke her sensitive ticklish spot when trying to sniff her from under the belly that she started growling and jumping at any dog that tried to sniff her there. Honestly could blame her. I get snarky when tickled too. LOL What do you think of his body language? Is is jumping to get away? Does he land on a tiny pounce position to try and play? Is he startled and wants to go back to see the dog at that time? The body language might be different each time since the dogs he's meeting are different each time. He also could be feeling threatened since he's on leash and can't move freely on leash... If he's eating treats while others pass by he's not that stressed. Both my girls will not even consider food if they are the least bit anxious.
  8. Any growling gets you evicted from *my* bed! Don't mind sharing but I will not be talked back to in it. LOL I would make her sleep in a dog bed and try again in a few months. She's probably still settling and figuring stuff out. She doesn't want to be cuddled with but petting is fine... It can be rude in the doggy world to not respect space. Which is what your doing when draping an arm over her. Which doesn't excuse the growling! But that's how she sees things. Sunshine has always crashed like a puppy. You can put stuff under her lips while she sleeps. Rainy was very touchy when she first arrived. Would snark at anyone who touched her. In the past 5 years she's gotten better and will even occasionally cuddle in bed. Right after I got divorced both dogs slept in the king size bed with me. Even then there plenty of room for no one to be touching. Just please be careful. A growl is a warning that can escalate to a bite. We don't want to see any pup get a bite history :-( also be careful to not correct the growling response out of her. She may stop growling and go right to a bite.
  9. Not sure how much it would take to be toxic, but I don't worry too much when I cook with onions. I eventually clean the floor up at the end! LOL
  10. She's probably just adjusting... Does she have any food sensitivities? I would feed her something extra yummy just to get some food in her belly. Usually when we have visitors they catch on pretty quick that my two aren't fed kibble and they go in hunger strike until I add in some extra yumminess so it's fair
  11. :-( poor guy was just trying to make friends! Glad the recipe worked!
  12. It's not an issue about sitting. It's am issue about the trainer not listening to you and trying to force you to do something with your dog that you are not comfortable with. Rainy has here CGC and never had to sit. Greyhounds are allowed to lay down for that. We lasted exactly 1 session of training, after I interviewed half a dozen people. The conclusion is that they were all morons. Even the one I thought was great! We've done everything ourselves since then. Not hard to train yourself. Research and make it a fun creative game. As long as the dog is having fun there is no right or wrong way to train ;-) Oh and my girls are not into doing the same thing over and over just because. LOL I can get one or two sits then better move onto something else. They just stand there looking at me like I'm stupid for asking them to do the same thing over and over
  13. Not even windy here..... I'm trying not to pay to much attention since there's not much I could do anyways. No basement. I could stack us all in the downstairs bathroom. And I do mean stack! Not even sure 1 dog could turn around in there
  14. I would amputate. Rainy had her for splinted for 3 days for a sprained for before her leg ballooned up. It was in to tight and even with gauze between every toe she has soars already. Took me over an hour to gently cut all that vet wrap off. We healed her sprain just by keeping her quiet for 7 months. I would really think twice before splinting any of my hounds again.
  15. Can you pick him up and carry him? Harness to help him down the stairs? Both my girls do stairs, but Rainy is iffy with them and getting older. In an emergency I would carry her or just throw a leash/harness on her and keep her at my hip and pull her down. And stay safe! We are under a tornado watch until 10pm tonight too. We don't even have a basement though Keeping leashes on is a good idea anyways. A friend this past year had to make a run for her basement and her dogs panicked and ran to the bedroom upstairs! The winds sound scary to them and they just wanted their safe spot.
  16. greysmom is right on the money! I would also introduce the meanest most evil cat first So in case things are a little interesting for the pup a good attitude check from an extremely pissed off kitty might be helpful
  17. It was rumored to be the same as Frontline, but the ingredients are not the same... I finally got the guts up to try it last year on the cats and dogs. No reaction on either of the animals and it seemed to do the job. Rainy will get chemical burn from Revolution, so I was braced for a reaction. At $19.99 for 6 doses it's the cheapest thing I've ever been brave enough to try. I hadn't seen it in any of the Costco stores yet this year until last week. I grabbed a box and went on my merry way. At checkout the lady loading my cart said that she's so happy that the just put it back on the market after pulling it last year. My face went white and I asked why they pulled it off the shelves. Apparently some lady with a super teeny tiny dog put MULTIPLE doses of the extra large dog size on her dog and it died. I split the large dose between both my dogs! She thought it would get rid of the fleas faster that way. So Sad But it makes me feel better that they yanked the product off the shelves while they did the investigation. The box now comes with a bright orange post card inside telling you to consult a vet and follow the directions Now does anyone know of a generic Sentinel? Then we will be saving money on all fronts!
  18. LOL I feed the dogs (allergy Rainy) a pretty cheap raw diet. Every couple months when I have to buy cat kibble again I just stand there in the store with sticker shock. oh I never thought to check amazon! Ebay was insanely expensive when I checked I'll check them out too! Thanks!
  19. Looks like for what I would be ordering Chewy.com is slightly cheaper than PetFlow... but they both are not to far off with their prices... decisions decisions...
  20. Thanks I'll look at their website too
  21. Oh Wow! Now that's some awesome customer service! I've been poking around ans so far they have the best prices. Gah! Why does premium kibble have to be so expensive? LOL
  22. Thanks! I didn't even know about them.
  23. Who has the best prices/services? Looking for a large bag of TOW probably every 1.5-2 months (for ebil kitties).... Hoping the online places have better prices than tractor supply where I'm getting it now?
