  1. I have what's probably the oddest question! This morning I noticed Sunshine pooping while she was having her morning pee. At first I thought she was peeing out lumps and I panicked.... In the last month she has started peeing, finishing, walking a single step, then pooping. Which was odd for her. So now it's morphed into the same time? Is only outside so she does have some control over her elimination. She's on tylan powder and we've just rcvd a possible diagnosis of IBD a couple months ago. She's doing great and has finally gained all her weight back. Poops are firm and she's back to her normal raw diet except for some add ins. She's on a butt ton of probiotics, not sure if that could effect this? Also slippery elm tea once a day. Do I need to be worried about this? We've worked so closely with our vet in the last 2 months, I'm sure she's tired of returning my phone calls! LOL
  2. Sooooo glad they are good with pills! Actully most chewables she won't eat. The Proin chewable needs a PB glob. It's probably a conspiricy to get more PB...
  3. We only have 30 days left of our Petmart Pharmacy supply of the Carprofen. Rainy is doing amazing on them! Trying to place a refill order today and found a different website that has it even cheaper! 35 cents for each 75 mg pill! http://www.nationalah.com/pmm/stores/21/Novox-Generic-for-Rimadyl-75MG180CT-Caplets-VEDCO-P20381C337.aspx Just placed an order for 4 bottles! I rememer looking at them beofre but they were more expensive. So not sure how long this price will last.
  4. I hope the vet can figure it out! If it's medical it might not be the care at the previous home. Sunshine dropped a lot of weight scary fast a few months ago. I swear within a week she dropped almost 12 lbs. Xrays, blodowork, and an ultrasound, ended with the guesstimate diagnosis of IBD. 1/2 tsp of Tylan powder twice a day seems to have helped level her out. I still have her on a ton of belly and intestinal happy supplements and have been able to get her back on her normal raw diet. She now looks normal skinny instead of scary skinny. She's still on no table scraps and bland cookies. She's not happy about that!. I did catch Gary sneeking her a tiny bit of beef on tuesday in the kitchen... LOL
  5. It's one of those things where people will always claim is unhealthy voodoo, until they take the leap and see the benefits for themselves. I won't go back to kibble. I see other greyhounds with horrible teeth, oily flakey coats, horrible breath, room clearing gas, etc. Keeps me happier. Keeps my dogs healthier. Prevents Rainy from having allergies. No dog breath. 💩 are tiny with no smell compared to kibble poop. The chewing and time it takes to eat helps keep their mind healthy. Our vet doesn't endorse, but she's aware. Is amazed at how my girls look and has advised to keep doing whatever we are doing. The wise vets know that some things just don't come from text books. Just think of all the money the kibble companies are missing out just from my two greyhounds. That alone is enough to get some lobbiest in the ears of some people and run some half butt studies. I love how the one study you mention about the salmonella in the poop only mentions half the study. LOL Go check on the shed rate of salmonella in the kibble fed dogs for that study. ;-) Let's just say that my parents now have salmonella on their well water. They have never been diligent about picking up dog poop and they've always feed kibble. It has worked is way down through the soil....
  6. I wasn't sure if they were an uptick or if I was just noticing them more now...
  7. 64.5ish lbs a couple weeks ago. She's still looking too thin to me, but she gets to eat as much as she wants at each meal. I'm not worrying... Or rather I'm not over worrying? LOL Her hip points are a little scary boney. You can easily see at least 5 vertebrae, and most of her ribs. She's still pretty solid though. Not frail. Vet didn't say she was too skinny and she will definitely bring that issue up if needed. Thanks for the info on the once a day dosing! Since she's doing so well in the twice a day dose, we will try that. But when we go in for their annuals in July/August I'll certainly inquire. Luckily our awesome vet has amazing people skills and doesn't get offended when I question and second guess every little thing! ☺ I don't think the two dose a day schedule will hurt her, but if I can save money with a once a day... She gets two peanut butter globs a day with her other meds/supplements so it's easy to split it up. For the rep every day exactly why once a day was better? I'll try to poke around on Google this week...
  8. Interesting... I wonder what the benefit is for the twice a day dosing? Maybe because they only make 100mg pills? At 2mg a lb Rainy would need approx 120mg. So the once a day dose would be in the low side with 100mg. So it's better to go with 75mg twice a day to go with a slightly higher dose? I'll have to ask the vet the next time we see her. She's still doing great on the med!
  9. Is Ruby taking it twice a day? If so that's an amazing price! We don't have one of those near us though.
  10. That's a really good local price! Our order arrived either yesterday or Saturday. Much faster than I expected. There was even a cute little milkbone in with our order! I'll definately be ordering from them again. Plus a little bit of my order goes to help the greyhounds . Win win!
  11. My order was shipped with a tracking number already!
  12. Those prices seem about the same as I've seen. When you start thinking about actual poundage for meals $1.79 is pricey! We go through approx 6-8lbs a day depending on activity levels. Dog kibble companies are not going to want to pay that for the cheap crappy part of kibble. Back when I was feeding prepackaged Blue Ridge raw food, our supplier told us that he had a hard time getting chicken necks sometimes and getting a whole case of chicken feet from the processor was close to impossible. It used to be easy, until they realized the possible profit by shipping to China. I try to keep everything well under $1 per pound. A case of chicken feet is going to run you over four times as much as chicken backs. And the same for chicken quarters. Last June I was able to get chicken quarters for 34 cents a lb in bulk. I think they were 40lb cases. I brought home over 10 cases...
  13. Not sellable feet and necks though.... They get a lot of money from them over in China. It's hard to get a bulk affordable order here of feet!
  14. I'm starting to learn this! I placed an order for 6 months of pills at PetmartPharmacy.com . I used coupon code GPAMTN and Greyhound Pets of America -TN Chapter get a donation of 5% from my order! I figured that was my sign that this was the place to order. 45 cents a pill is the best pricing I could find. Shipping was only $2.99, should have been free for the amount that I spend... They send my vet a fax for the scipt confimation. I'll report back when I get the meds. If everything goes smoothly it might be decent savings. Especially everyone with 2 dogs on the med!
  15. Thanks TBHounds! Donna KV Pet Supply has the 75 mg for 83 cents a pill
  16. Thanks ShantisMom! My head officially hurts looking at all these comparisons. I found a number of scam sites that had great prices! I think I'm going to try and order from PetMartPharmacy. Looks like they are located in TN and I can't find anything bad about them online. 45 cents per 75mg pill. Just waiting for the vet to call me back. Does being on Rimadyl long term require any extra bloodwork?
  17. So it looks like GoodRX has pricing incorrect. When I navigate to the Pet360 website the prices are over $20 more.
  18. Wow.... So Ironic since you can't miss the Blue Buffalo commercials!
  19. Thanks! I've been seeing the prices of Novox vs the labeled Carprofen are around the same price. I'm glad to know that the Novox works just as well. Also glad to know that your greys did well on the med.
  20. 5-7 cups is an insane amount! 2 cups sounds much more reasonable for a female...
  21. Thanks! I'm looking around their website and the $16 price is for a 30 count. They probably did something to get them traffic from the google price listings.... The 180 count is $79, which is approx the Pet 360 price. I've ordered from them in the past and they were pretty good. Looks like they are 72 cents a pill for the off brand Novox.
  22. Thanks! I didn't know about that website! Looks like Pet360 has it for 43 cents a pill
  23. It looks like it might be time for Rainy to go on Rimadyl for arthritis. She's on a 1 week trial right now. I called Costco and Walmart and was quoted $7 a pill! That's $14 a day! http://www.canadianpharmacyking.com/Drug/Rimadyl has it for 63 cents a pill and I'm not sure what shipping would be. I don't really care about flavored and chewable. Rainy gets a peanut butter glob twice a day with her supplements and other pills. Anyone have any other places to purchase? I don't mind buying in giant bulk to get the best prices....
  24. Every time I read about a recall! Such a relief that the girls basically eat the same food we do.
  25. The girls started this after we dug up a large portio of the yard to put in a french drain and sump pump. Aparently clay tastes good? LOL
