    Harley

I am so very sorry. Harley knew that he was a very well loved boy. Godspeed, Harley.
  2. Sending more prayers and good thoughts for Harley. Hugs to you.
  3. Years ago when my sister-equivalent had iggies the little one was deaf as well. One day after ballet class I was sitting on the couch and Sharkey crawled into my lap, stuck her head in my leotard and then maneuvered her entire body in there (yes, I let her because I wanted to see what the silly girl was trying to do) stuck her head out and went promptly to sleep. For the next 8 or 9 nine years of her life, she crawled inside people's tops/sweaters, etc. It was soothing to her. Do you think that Little Dude would sleep, or at least relax if you let him do this (assuming you want to do it)? It is actually quite easy to deal with as they are so small. You just have to remember to sling an arm under your new "belly" when you get up! We have a lot of pictures of several of us with our little alien baby in our tops. Some with head out, some without so it looks really alien.
  4. I am so sorry. Will keep you and Tiny in my thoughts and prayers. Make lots of memories with him and spoil him rotten!
  5. I am so very sorry for all of your losses. Godspeed, Major.
  6. Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers for King.
  7. I am so sorry. Godspeed, Aaron.
  8. I am so sorry. Godspeed, Lincoln.
  9. Thinking of Roo today and sending prayers and gentle hugs.
  10. I am so very sorry. For Huckabee, for what he went through. For you, to lose two in one day. You have such a beautiful heart with all that you do for these pups. That love was with Huckabee when he most needed it. Godspeed, Huckabee. Godspeed, Archie.
  11. I didn't realize that you truly had such a short time for your girl. Yes, I too learned the hard way about insurance. Thankfully, when my first girl Scarlett needed help a friend let me charge on her AmEx and pay the bill monthly, my stepfather picked up another portion and let me pay him back, and a friend whose apartment I decorated and wouldn't accept payment from went to the vet's office to visit her and paid off a big chunk of the bill while he was there. When Morgaine came to me, I signed up for the insurance before even picking her up to come home. I signed Aquitaine up for insurance the first business day after she came to me. With her accidents and attack last year that insurance really was invaluable. Again, I am so sorry for your loss of Gracie. She truly found a wonderful home with you.
  12. I don't know about CT but perhaps the animal oncology (and evet) practice that I go to could give you a local referral? As horrible as it is to go there on an emergency, they have always been tremendously kind and supportive (even the receptionist was calling taxis for me at one point). NYC Veterinary Specialists -- Oncology Team -- 212.767.0099 Joshua Lachowicz -- did his residency at the Veterinary Oncology and Hematology Center, Connecticut so he should have some good referrals -- he is also Board Certified http://newyork.bluepearlvet.com/joshua-lachowicz/ Karen Oberhaler -- also board certified http://newyork.bluepearlvet.com/karen-oberthaler/ Timothy Rocha -- also board certified http://newyork.bluepearlvet.com/timothy-rocha/ Veterinary Oncology and Hematology Center, Connecticut (Norwalk) 203.838.6626 http://www.oncovet.com/ Hopefully, some of this info is useful to you.
  13. No real answers as Aquitaine doesn't live with another dog. I have, however, always been told that licking the mouth/teeth and nose kissing is a sign of submission by the dog that does it. I know that there is a Pharoah Hound/Pit Bull mix who does this with Aquitaine and A will take it for a while and then just backs away. To be fair, Avedon (the mix) does much the same thing to me as she met me as a teeny puppy and seems to have really over-bonded to me. I keep promising that the moment that doggies and girls can marry that I will run away with her. I hate to laugh at Ollie being sat on but it is a very funny visual. Does Chevy do the happy snappy thing like his sister Aquitaine? I've taken to calling her my baby alligator!
  14. Adding prayers and good thoughts for your little man.
  15. When Scarlett was battling Osteo my vet said that when there were more bad days than good days, that would be the time. The day of her x-rays when it showed that there were mets in her lungs, I chose a date right then and arranged for my vet to come to us to let her go. She may well have had more good days in her but the thought of her being in any more pain was unacceptable after we had been given 13 years together. I was able to completely spoil her for those 12 days, and all of her favorite people came in to visit her on her last day and she was sent out of a pillow of hugs and kisses and champagne bubbles. My vet came to the apartment so that she was on her own couch at the end. I was a wreck but knew that there were anti-anxiety meds with my name on them that would get me through the first few days. I am so sorry that you are going through this.
