    Frank

Your Frank is the spitting image of Bonnie. Bonnie left us on April 30th. Maybe they've met up and are keeping each other company? Godspeed Frank.
  6. We tried valium with Athena once. It did absolutely nothing to calm her.

    Bonnie

Bonnie June~March 1990 to April 30, 2008 We had to make the very difficult decision to help Bonnie to the bridge last night. Bonnie was old and her body was tired. It was time. I know we made the right decision but, my god, it hurts. Bonnie and her brother Clyde came into my life 18 years ago at the tender age of 8 weeks. Little grey bundles of curiousity and energy. What a wild ride those first years were! They were either fighting with each other, chasing each other around the house or curled up together plotting their next adventure. We miss you so much sweetheart. The house is so quiet with you...no pounding of kitty feet as you and Clyde raced to your food bowl, no chats in the bathroom. Watch over your brother Bon-Bon. He knows you're not coming home again and he misses you. He was very quiet last night but Bella made sure he wasn't lonely. Thanks for the sign last night. You never were one to keep us waiting. We love you. We miss you. We will see you again some day. Godspeed sweetheart

    Mahogany

I'm so sorry Diane. Godspeed sweet Mahogany.
  9. We're sending lots of good thoughts to you and Flashy. We had a similar scare with Cleo and Cole in late February. Both had blood work done and both had elevated liver values. We thought it was a bit suspicious but agreed to have further tests run (bile acids testing) and all was fine. We opted to wait and re-test blood work rather than do more invasive testing. Hopefully all will be well with Flashy.
  10. Merlin will be fine. Merlin's Mom may be a basket of nerves...but it's only one day. Our previous vet did require an overnight stay the night before the visit. I spoke with the vet because Cleo gets really stressed at the clinic now & I didn't want to stress her out any more than absolutely necessary. Given Cleo's fear, the overnight stay was not required and her pre-surgery blood work was completed at an appointment. Dentals are typically scheduled in the early morning and the hounds are ready to come home early afternoon. We haven't had any problems...just some really dopey dogs for a few hours. Merlin will be fine.
  11. Cole pulled his stitches out twice while muzzled. He also removed his t-shirt. He was a force to be reckoned with.
  12. I am so sorry Patti! My sympathies to you and your family.
  13. We took Cleo to the vet yesterday because she had licking her bum. A good indication that her anal glands were bothering her. Her anal glands did need to be cleaned out but the vet also noticed some dermatisis on her vulva. We were instructed to wipe her vulva with a warm cloth and apply the cream. I did so this evening at 7:00 p.m. Since than, Cleo has been outside 6 times straining to urinate. I've read (and re-read) the package insert but can't see any side effects referring to the urge to urinate. I've got a call into our clinic and I'm just waiting to hear back from one of the vets on duty this evening. In the meantime, any insight would be wonderful. She did urinate normally before and after dinner and before the application of the cream. i'm just concerned the cream is irritating her.
  14. Update at 3:45 p.m. today: "Well, He made it. Nothing “catastrophic†as dr vilar would say, happened. I have to be thankful for that. Ted will pick him up at 4pm." He'll be home soon. I've asked Tania to keep us updated over the weekend. I'll post as I learn more.
  15. We are continuing to send lots of prayers to Cannon (and hugs to you). Let us know how he does today.
  16. Time for another Cannon update! Tania said he's doing well. He's got a good appetite. I believe her exact words were "he's still a food bully". Seems the biggest difference is he's allowing his sister to cuddle with him. Something that never happened before! My favourite picture: Chemo is scheduled to start next week. Please continue to keep Cannon (and his family) in your prayers. Thanks!
  17. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I'm sure Athena would happy to visit you and Loudly. They could have many long and interesting (to them) conversations.
  18. Many more tears here. I'm so sorry. Godspeed sweet boy.
  19. Welcome IGPoppa! We have three greyhounds and one Italian greyhound. They are so different! Our greyhounds are content to sleep for hours on end while Bella (our IG) is much more high energy. As I'm sure you're well aware. Bella has been very difficult to house train. We have occasional accidents with the greyhounds but, as mentioned above, it's usually when the weather is really bad and they just don't want to outside. Our four are all great with cats inside. Although, it did take some time with Athena...she thought the cats would be a nice tasty snack. Outside, it's a different story and cats are fair game. I'm sure your group will be able to find a small animal friendly greyhound. Keep us posted.
  20. Carrier looks amazing!!! We're continuing to add our prayers for his continued health. Not to mention the return of soft, green grass. (Heck! at this point, any kind of grass would be welcome.) And I bet Carrier would be proud to be Cannon's inspiration.
  21. We just interviewed a new vet today! We went armed with our list of questions and just let the conversation flow. The vet was very welcoming and answered all of our questions without making us feel like we were obsessive about our dogs. We did ask questions about some prices (i.e. dentals) and she was very willing to share. Price is not the final determining factor in choosing a new vet but it does have some bearing on the decision. I don't think there is any harm in asking and I would be a bit concerned if they weren't willing to share. All in all it was a good experience and we probably will change to her practice. Good luck!
  22. I'm sorry. It's just never long enough is it? Godspeed sweet Penny...

    Kia

I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you and your family. Godspeed sweet girl...
  24. Again, I say: WAY TO GO CANNON!!!! I'm glad he's home with you and Divine. He didn't waste any time showing that doctor it was time to go home eh? Divine (gorgeous as always) looks thrilled to have her brother home! Hugs to Cannon. And slurpy kisses for Auntie Tania from the monsters.
