  1. I have had greys for 11 years, and I still get nervous about adding another to my home. It's normal to have questions or feel like you need to second guess yourself. I did that when we got Franny three years ago. I did it again when we got our foster last May. These feelings went away within about a day of the dog being there. Maybe what you need is to adopt a dog that has bounced, meaning one that has been in a home for awhile and is being returned, or maybe an older dog that is a bit more laid back that will be content to curl up on your couch and just hang out with you. There are plenty of dogs like that need homes too. In fact, all three of mine, and my fosters have all been bounces. They need homes and love just as much as a new off the track dog does.
  2. Evie will be just fine. Congrats on your new girl. Feel free to join the GPA -WI forum also if you haven't already. Lots of good things on there too. Hopefully you will be able to make The Gala in October.
  3. No they usually don't, but foster families get first dibs on the dog they are fostering if there are no potential families, or if something happens and families don't end up getting the dog.
  4. Franny eats it too with no problems. No gas, good poops. She gets whatever flavor bag is on top of the pile when I go to buy more. She's never had a problem changing flavors.
  5. I do not know the story about Gus, but I do know how it feels to lose one and feel like I wish I could have done something more. It sounds like you did everything right for him. I'm sorry for your loss.
  6. Franny will be with us three years next month and she acts the same way, but for her she hangs out in our bedroom. It's just her personality. She is always very happy to see us when we get home from somewhere and always comes out when called and for dinner etc, but she is just very happy to snooze away the day on her bed in our room. I was concerned when we first got her since the boys were so needy and different, but I came to understand that this is who she is.
  7. Franny had one of those. It eventually ruptured and went away. It has never come back.
  8. Franny does this all the time. I always feel bad when I have to remove her paw to finally get up. My kids love it when she does that to them.

  10. Welcome from southeastern Wisconsin
  11. I agree too. It almost sounds like she has a case of the flu. Can dogs get the flu?

    Marianne

Marianne, my first official foster, is gone. She was only 10 years old. Her time with us this past May was short, only two weeks before she found her forever home. She was such a sweet girl. She had the energy of a three year old. You would have never guessed that she was a senior lady. I got an email last night from the adoption coordinator from our group letting me know she was gone. She was diagnosed with bladder cancer and was in a great deal of pain. Her new mom did not want her to suffer any longer so she made the painful decision to let her go. Even though we only fostered her for two weeks, I miss her and I'm sad that she is gone. She took a little part of my heart with her when I found this out. Run free Marianne...
  13. Has anyone ever bought these for their dog to help with keeping their teeth clean? They are an enzyme coated oral hygiene chew. I bought some for Franny hoping they would help delay a dental. I'm a little nervous because they are a product of Mexico and not the U.S.
  14. That was wonderful. I'm so sorry your boy is gone.
  15. When I still had the boys, we did a double dental. They both did just fine. They just slept the day away after we got home.
  16. I forget what they are called, but Franny has had a couple of these. They have always gone away on their own.
  17. I am so sorry for your loss. Run free sweet Penny.
  18. I'm so sorry. There will never be another Bean. She was one of the best.
  19. Others with more knowledge will chime in, but basically he wants to be with you. Is there a particular reason why you don't want him in your room?
  20. Oh no, my heart is breaking. I'm so sorry for what happened. I'm glad you were with him at the end. He no longer needs to suffer.
