  1. I'm so glad he's doing well. Those were some serious looking injuries
  2. She will have tons of prayers coming from California. Poor little girl. Hope all goes well and she heals quickly. Please let us know how you make out.
  3. Someone suggested pad-kote so I ordered some online and have been trying it. It seems to help Wayne(please don't laugh at his name) He had trouble if we walked on a hard surface so I started using the pad-kote every other day and it has helped. But there's a lot of votes for Bag Balm which I may try as well. That might not be as messy as pad-kote
  4. Poor Todd, the cut by his eye sure was close. It does look like cat damage. Hope he feels better today. What a bad experience for him. And you too of course
  5. My 12yr old was a Von Willebrands boy and had bone spurs and arthritis pretty bad. Because of the VW, he couldn't take an anti-inflammatory so we only had Tramadol. He was having acupuncture and the vet told me that it was safe to give him 2 Tramadol, twice a day. Plus using the Traumeel gel really helped him stay almost pain free until he passed away 7 months ago.The bone spurs got just too painful for him. I hope you find the right combination to keep her comfortable.
  6. I have always been told that the timing makes a difference and it shouldn't be any more than 5 hours after taking the pill. But I know people here know a heck of a lot more than I do
  7. Will say a very special prayer for you and Shadow, and will keep him in our prayers for the very best outcome.
  8. Thank you for posting her story, and her pics. She's beautiful. And thank you for keeping all of us posted. In the midst of going through it all, you still took the time to keep us all posted. Thank you for that. So many people here cared. And I don't want to speak for others, but it was like Mattie was ours as well. Will continue to keep you in our thoughts and know that Mattie will watch over you.
  9. Just wondering how your pretty girl is doing? Hoping she's comfortable
  10. With any homeopathic remedy, you wouldn't have to worry about any reaction with other meds.I've never used the oral form, but the gel really does work. You'll notice the difference. My Misty is on Enacard(spelling?) but she's on it for her kidneys and the vet has me massage her neck with Traumeel daily.
  11. True....who cares. I just said it because I can still remember how I felt when they corrected me in front of the entire store(always crowded) I wanted to crawl under a shelf. Would hate for someone else to experience that.
  12. When I first adopted Wayne(please don't laugh at his name) he was doing the same thing. On the top by his tail. I thought it may be a hot spot and then wondered if the climate change was tough on him. I started giving him Benadryl and it stopped.
  13. Traumeel is a homeopathic remedy, not holistic.I never really knew nor understood the difference, and I still don't but I sure got read the riot act at a health food store a few years ago when I first asked for Traumeel. They made it very clear that it was homeopathic.Needless to say, I started buying it from another store because I was so embarrased. What did I know???
  14. Traumeel is a great product. It's homeopathic and contains arnica which is great for pain. When one of my boys was having acupuncture, the vet told me to buy the gel and massage it in.It really is great and helps a lot, and the dogs love the massage.Hope she feels better soon
  15. Saying I'm sorry doesn't even come close to how I feel right now.You should be very proud of yourself handling all of this on your own, and being there for Mattie every step of the way. You so loved that little girl and I'm sure she loved you as much. I hope in some way, Mattie lets you know that she will always love you and she is running free from pain. Please take care of your self.
  16. With all you are dealing with I hate to even make another suggestion, but maybe it's a good idea to ask Dr Couto if he will recommend someone here you can see. I know he knows some of the vets out here.Keeping you and Mattie in my prayers, and again, if you need any help at all, please don't hesitate to just say the word.
  17. I'm getting in here late, but I actually got a call from a friend just a short time ago who told me to read this thread. Sure wish Dr Cuoto was here because it has been said that he's the best. I know my vet knows him well and speaks of him with the highest regard.Your Mattie is lucky to have someone who loves her like you do. I'm in California and I have more free time than most so if there is anything at all I can do to help, I don't care if it's to go with you and Mattie to the vet....fianancial assistance or anything else, please, please don't hesitate to yell....because I am more than happy and willing to help. Post it here....email me...whatever. But I would like to help, in any way I can. We do it for Mattie....ok? My email address is cbudshome@aol.com
  18. I'm so glad you're keeping everyone posted in the middle of everything else you're going through. Thank you. And Bill must be a very special boy. Happy to hear he is doing so well.
  19. God I hate sounding like a moron, but if the shoe fits......I'm only gone a few hours a day and my dogs have a dog door. What if she goes out and pees? If the pants get wet won't that cause a problem for that area?
  20. I have read the posts from people who had their dogs undergo a Vulvaplasty. What I would like to ask you is how do you avoid the licking after the surgery? My Misty needs that surgery but my vet will not do it unless we can be sure she will not be able to lick the area after the surgery. We did a test run with her and tried the e-collar(which I hate) but she's able to get the collar off. I tied the e-collar to her collar and she still got it off. Then I tried the Bite-Not collar, and she can reach the area with that one.My vet said that if she is unattented and licks after the surgery, she can cause a serious problem. So my question to those of you who have experience with this, what else can I do to insure that she won't lick? I would appreciate any help and suggestions you have.
  21. This is a story that I don't think I will ever forget.Your love for Flecka came through every word you wrote.Such a beautiful girl and so young.May you find peace
  22. My little Misty has this problem but my vet won't do the surgery unless we can be sure she will not like the incision. So we did a run with the e-collar, she can get that off. I tied it to her collar and she still gets it off. Then we tried the bite-not collar, she can reach the area with it on. So the question I have is what elase can I try? For now I clean the area every time I see her pee with an anti-bacterial soap from the vet and use Desitin Creamy to soothe the area. According to my vet, if she has the surgery and is left unattended and licks the area, it can cause more serious problems.
  23. Well I finally got up my nerve to look at the pics of Bill's injuries.OMG I can't even imagine what you felt when you first saw him. Keeping him in our prayers and I hope his healing moves along quickly.Great that he's eating a bit.
