  1. Yep. I've heard so many good things about her. Plus she got her dog from GRA so she's got to be a good person. LOL
  2. The limp is all but gone this morning. I'm hoping it was just a sore muscle or something like that. I have made an appointment with a grey savvy vet on Wednesday to discuss all these issues and look further into the causes of the urinary dysfunction. I hope she will have some answers for us.
  3. I ran my hand down his spine tonight. There wasn't any response, so I don't think his back is hurting him. He actually did zoomies in our tiny condo tonight. His limp is a lot better then it was on Sunday. I really only notice it for the first few steps he take when he first gets up. I don't believe so, he was still focused on me.
  4. No he hasn't been tested by me. I believe the adoption kennel did this test though. He came from New Hampshire, so I don't think tick borne disease is as common there. So far all the vet did was look for a UTI and other related problems because thats what I thought was going on.
  5. Over the past few weeks I've been having some unexplained issues with Hobbes. I'm really worried there could be something bigger going on. First off, he has been urinating in the our condo and elevator. It's like he just can't hold it, and can't stop once he has started. He does know the rules and I'm pretty sure this is a medical issue. However he saw a vet about this issue, and everything came back normal. I've been giving him cranberry pills in hopes it will help. He also developed a limp on the weekend. He had been out to a greyhound run on Sunday, which he didn't run at (this is abnormal). That night he began limping very noticeably. The next day it was much better, although he still limps when he first gets up out of bed. He walks it off quickly and doesn't seem to be bothered by it much. He also had a little freak out at a greyhound run (indoors) a few weeks ago. when it was happening I thought he was having a heart attack or something. He lay on the ground and was shaking. I couldn't get him to stand up, his legs would just collapse under him. As soon as I brought him out of the arena it was being held in, he was perfectly fine. I attributed it to a panic attack or something along those lines. Now I'm not so sure. I know these are probably stand alone issues, but should I be worried? Anyone heard of anything like this.
  6. I just started another thread today about cranberry pills. I take them for UTI. They really help clean out the system. Might be worth a try.
  7. I wrote a post last week about accidents Hobbes was having in the house. Linky Today he had another one, where he just couldn't stop no matter what I said or did. He looks so guilty while doing it. I took him to the vets on Monday, he had a clean bill of health. I still don't think this is a training issue. He does no where to go he just can't seem to hold it. That brings me to my question is cranberry supplements ok to give to dogs? I suffer quite regularly from UTI, (it's not fun) cranberry pills work wonders for me. They really do help maintain urinary tract health. I was wondering if I could try them for a week on Hobbes to see if there is any improvement. I will bring him back to the vets if this continues, just want to see if this may help.
  8. I used to work at a thoroughbred racing stable, when the horses would get cuts on there faces we would use vitamin E. Just buy the gel capsules and break them open. It really reduced scaring.
  9. Since I've had Hobbes 6 months ago, he has only had a few accidents in the house. Every time it has been either when we were away or when he was very stressed by something. He seems to have a clear grasp on where he is supposed to go. However his cues that he needs to go out are very subtle. Two days ago, I took him out at his normal last call time. He went to the pee once then ran into his girlfriend (another GTers greyhound) he became excited and I think kinda forgot what he was out there to do. I was cold so I brought him back in. Two hours later he got up from bed. I didn't think much of it since I could here my DH up so just thought he wanted to be with him. A minute later he comes back in the room and I could here him start to pee. I said no and he stopped, my DH took him back out and praised him when he went. Today we where cleaning the house. Hobbes was a little stressed, but nothing that bad. He had been out at 10 it was around 2. I was just putting everything away when I saw him start to squat, I said no, he stopped. I quickly grabbed his leash and brought him out. We have to take the elevator to go out, when in it he peed. No amount of saying no could stop him. He looks very guilty. I never yelled at him at all, so I do think he knows it was wrong. I really don't think this is a training issue, but am unfamiliar with the signs of a UTI. He hasn't seemed stressed or sick. He is eating and drinking normally. The last week or so he has been peeing a lot more (outside). I stand there amazed at how much he has in him. I'm going to bring him to the vet on Monday but just want an idea if this is what a UTI sounds like or could it be something else. Just wanted to add he held it for 8 hours both Thursday and Friday when I was at work. Last night he was also fine, he woke me up at 6am but this is two hours later then his normal weekday time. He did want back out at 10 however. Thanks so much
  10. There is secret bunny? How fun, now I don't have to wait all year. Let the shopping begin
  11. I'm glad you all enjoyed your gifts. Each one of my cats picked their favorite toy to send to there new kitty friends. All the best in the New Year!!
  12. Hobbes cut is foot today requiring 5 stitches. The vet gave him a local anesthetic to stitch it up, but I'm not sure what it was. Anyways He has developed a bad rash all over his belly and genital area. He won't leave it alone. What can I give him to stop the itching and rash. Also he is going to be on Novolexin, but he hasn't had his first dose yet. Thanks so much
  13. Your Welcome. Everything is wrapped inside so feel free to open the otter package. I forgot to label it but the present in gold paper is for you. Merry Christmas
  14. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Run free Barbie Jade
  15. I have the same problem here. Until I got Hobbes I don't think I every saw a dog that disliked snow. He HATES it. He avoids walking in the snow, and when he walks on the side walks the salt bothers his feet and he begins to limp. I put paw wax on his feet but it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference. I have ordered boots but they haven't come yet. I'm really hoping that will be the solution or I'm in for a very long long winter. I feel your pain with the side walk elimination. Hobbes is now doing this too, much to my embarrassment. If you find a solution let me know.
  16. I got your package you sent in the mail today. Hobbes loves all his Stuff. Well he isn't to sure about the hat but I think he looks so darn cute in it, he is just going to have to learn to love it. LOL Thank you so much. Hobbes is a very spoiled hound now. He could hardly wait for me to give him his toys This is the best picture of the Snowman Hat. He wasn't being a very cooperative boy.
  17. Welcome to the wonderful world of Greyhounds!!!!!!!! We need pictures please. How else can we oww and aww over your new boy.
  18. Thank you so much for the necklace you gave to Hobbes. It makes him look so handsome. Now if I only knew who you were And because I know the rules here is a picture
  19. If your concerned, it's better air on the side of caution. Bring him to the vet, let the vet decide.
  20. Hobbes is a 8 year old brindle boy weighing in at 77 lbs. I adopted him in July so he is quite new to my family. He is a shy and nervous boy, not a spook . It takes him a while to warm up to new people and situations, but once comfy he is a goof. His favorite activities include sleeping, eating greenies/ bullysticks, roaching for a good belly rub and car rides. He looks best in rich colors like blues and reds. Stuffies arn't high on his priority list yet but he is slowly coming around.
