  1. Exactly my thoughts... two of our grey girls (both 8 y/o) have incontinence issues. They are both now on Proin and doing well.
  2. I agree. Of our three greys - our most energetic is by far our "old" gal Darcy. She raced 154 races and we adopted her when she was almost 6 y/o. She is now almost 9 y/o. She's been very healthy AND has all of her teeth.
  3. Our greys love playing with stuffies. One was even a very good racer with a long career. The peacefully coexist with three cats. In summary, I'm pretty sure they can distinguish between a lure and a live animal.
  4. Sometimes the medical solutions don't work. Every dog/situation is different. I still wouldn't want to punish my greyhounds by making them lay in their own urine for a medical issue they have no control over. Just my 2 cents... to each his/her own.
  5. Two of our three girls have incontinence issues and are on Proin. Personally, I would not use "bad girl" panties on either one of them. They are meant to discourage marking. My girls aren't peeing on purpose - they can't help it. So, why punish them by making them walk around in their urine for something they can't control? I'd rather take the medical route to help resolve the problem.
  6. I've always had pets, so I've had to go through this several times. It's never easy. However, I've never once questioned that I was making the right decision for my pets. I strongly believe that they let us know when it's their time. I've never been able to bring myself to be there for the actual procedure though. I've always taken my pet to the vets office, but they take them into a separate room for the final injection. It's a personal decision and I would never judge anyone for their decision either way. I do think it's wonderful that your vet can come to your house.
  7. This is fritofeet's website... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these bully stixs. It takes 2 days for our girls to eat a 6" one. It used to take about 20 minutes for them to eat a 6" Merrick. These don't smell either.
  8. This is the only problem I've had with the Merrick... they swallow the last bit whole and puke it up. I now only feed our greys the bully stix I get from fritofeet here on GT. They last a lot longer and haven't caused any issues.
  9. I didn't see any such announcement on the places I usually order Synovi G3 Soft Chews from (where I order from varies depending on price): http://www.naturalpets.com/newsysoch2ch.html http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html?pg...9f-0a183b2fafa2 http://www.discountpetdrugs.com/newsysoch2ch.html
  10. I haven't heard anything... just ordered 2 of the 240 count tubs today from NaturalPets.com
  11. Our vet recommends Synovi G3 Soft Chews. They've done wonders for our girls.
  12. Why didn't the vet do the needle aspiration right then and there? Our cats have had mysterious lumps appear. The vet aspirated them and it turned out to be nothing - just a "fatty" deposit. It wasn't a big deal to aspirate either.
  13. Unfortunately, I don't think that will work since the "accidents" can happen at any time of the day/night. This isn't a marking issue - they are out cold sleeping on their beds when it happens. My poor leaky girls can't help it.
  14. Of course... Our three grey girls all get the same food, but all like to "sample" out of each other's bowls. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side after all...
  15. Thanks for the suggestions... gives me some ideas to present to the vet since the Proin doesn't appear to be doing the trick.
  16. Oh Anne... I hope you can find a resolution for Ben's "problem" soon.
  17. About a year ago, our now 8.5 y/o grey girl Darcy was diagnosed with a loose sphincter. This came after we noticed that she was peeing while asleep. The vet prescribed Proin. Our vet had us start off with the Proin everyday and then gradually wean her off. We did that with good results. Unfortunately, a few months ago the bed wetting started again. So, back to the Proin. A couple of weeks ago, we noticed that our now 8 y/o grey girl Bonny started wetting her bed while asleep. We put her on the Proin too. First, everyday for about a week and then to every other day. Darcy and Bonny are now getting 25 mg of Proin once every other day. DH and I just returned from vacation. Our pet sitter, who watched both girls at her her house, said that she noticed a total of 6 bed wetting accidents - not sure who was responsible for each one - but she knows that both had accidents at some point due to wet bottoms. It appears that we need to take both girls to the vet to get this checked out. In the meantime, I'm hoping that other GTers who have girl greys with "leaky" issues share what has worked for them. Is Proin the only therapy? Were you able to eventually wean your greys off Proin? How much Proin works for you? Any other therapies?
  18. Celeste has one of those on her neck right now. We haven't had it looked at yet - just hoping it will go away soon.
  19. This is what happened to us when we had to put our cat down. Our vet always requires payment when services are rendered. So, when we weren't asked to pay on the way out, I thought the euthanasia was free. Then we got the bill in the mail a couple of weeks later. In summary, your vet may do the same... don't assume it's free quite yet.
  20. i agree with giving them time. Celeste and Darcy both came right from the track kennel. Neither had a good coat at first, but their coats did improve over a short amount of time. We didn't do anything special either. They just needed to settle in and blow their kennel coats naturally.
  21. We have three greyhounds. Our first, Celeste, was an only grey for eight months. She would have been fine as an only dog. It was the humans that made the decision to add two more.
  22. Congrats! Irene appears to be a very special girl.
  23. Hello from Northern Virginia! DH and I were married for nearly 10 years before we decided to get our first dog together. Our first was our grey girl Celeste... now, three years later, and we have two more.
  24. I'm so sorry for your loss...
