  1. Enjoy the moments! time for all the lovin' in the world. Many prayers for your Apollo!
  2. It's very routine to leave a catheter in. Makes it so much easier if she needs fluids/IV today. Most dogs don't bother it. I would recommend speaking with your vet first before feeding. When I've dealt with this we let the stomach rest. Hope today is uneventful and Tess is back to normal.
  3. I've had two greys with this titer. I didn't treat either one. I would recommend the PCR. I did this.
  4. I don't have any advice on how to help with appetite etc but I do want to say please don't doubt yourself. I have read all your posts about Pearl. You two are a team. You went ahead with the surgery out of love and to see if she would have more quality time. I hope this is just a bump in this road....There are no wrong decisions when it comes to love. I'm sending out lots of prayers for you both. Hang in there Pearl. We're all pulling for you.
  5. Keeping you and Apollo in my prayers. I know we would all agree here that we absolutely hate osteo. It's normal what you're feeling. Fear brings questions and worries. Friday will be here soon. Then Apollo can get on with more pain free quality time. I have a feeling this boy will do greyt!
  6. I'm really sorry for the diagnosis of Apollo. Your decision will be the right one. Take a couple of days, it will come to you. Prayers for strength, wisdom and peace.
  7. He is precious....I'm so glad he is home. Poor guy that looks painful.
  8. Robin, I'm sorry to hear about Phene. I don't think it's normal to just get old eyes and it progress this quickly. You know all the stuff Avril is going through. She sees a Vet Ophthalmologist. Her eyesight is pretty much gone in her one eye but that's because of the cancer. Rocky lost his eyesight but it happened suddenly. He did remarkably well. Although, I didn't change the furniture or anything. I know the stairs are the scary part. Can you keep the light on when you're not there? I would really look in to seeing an Opthalmologist. Phene's a Divo not a Diva. These blue fawns keep us on our toes.
  9. anxiety causes a lot to increase; temp, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate etc. Dogs with pain or in extreme cold experience this as well.
  10. Did the vet say to administer aspirin? may ask about that. Checking blood pressure is a good idea, however, it can be difficult if your grey has anxiety or is nervous. If your vet suspects this he will probably suggest checking it at home for a more accurate read. It's easy to do.
  11. You haven't failed Wilbur at all. You've given him the absolute best thing....love and care. Remember Wilbur doesn't think you failed him. Look in his eyes and you will see the love. Many prayers for you both. Keep making the memories. You still have time.

    Hotdog

It's so shocking when it's so sudden. My heart goes out to you. Soar high HotDog!
  13. Just please please stay ahead of that pain. Many vets will tell you to not let your dog run. There is a risk of fracture. And they will tell you if your dog limps it's because it is pain. Bone pain is excrutiating. I've been down this road many times and it's a long journey. Enjoy the moments. They don't know about tomorrow but they know the moment. Make that count and make it wonderful. Don't be afraid to up the meds. I gave it religiously every single time no matter what. I wanted quality time.... Lots of prayers for strength, wisdom, and peace to all going down this road. You're not alone.
  14. no words... Prayers for strength, wisdom, peace and comfort for you and lots of loving for Wilbur.
  15. He will adjust but it may take awhile. do you have a sling or something to help. I'd be afraid he'd fall. I forgot he's a tripod. geeze. lots of prayers for your guy. I have a good feeling he'll be doing greyt in no time.
  16. loads of postive vibes coming for Milo, Gosh, he's adorable.
  17. With mine the best relief came with Previcox, Tramadol and Neurontin. My only advice is stay ahead of the pain. Osteo is incredibly painful. Tramadol isn't processed like many drugs so it is safer. It's used a lot in people with liver cancer etc as well. It's on the 4 dollar list at lots of pharmacies. Neurontin comes in generic too making it cheaper that way. The one thing I've found with my hounds is tramadol is so bitter. They wise up and can tell if it's in there. My one sure bet is to put in marshmellows or fig newtons. Greys love those! Like my vet has told me, lots of drugs at high doses can cause health problems but when it's to treat osteo you don't worry about that. Your concern is pain control. and fwiw, mine have never been dopey with tramadol.also may want to add pepcid for tummy upsets.
  18. no experience with this in a grey but our dachshund has an arrhythmia and does just fine. He's a crazy wild man. These things are much more common in smaller breeds. Talk to a Cardiologist and see what they say. They may just monitor and want a follow up.
  19. Good thoughts for Wilbur. What an ordeal. I can't at all give you advice but I do send good thoughts!
  20. Pannus is treatable but it may take a bit of time to see what the exact amount of drops Tessa needs. Then over time they may have to be tweaked again. and don't feel bad, Pannus can appear suddenly. Typically, it occurs in both eyes, at least eventually it usually does. With meds, her eyesight should be ok. Pannus is something that has to be treated religiously. You can't forget the drops. Tessa will do fine!
  21. It will more than likely take some time for him to adjust to the meds but he will. also, the dose may need to be increased or decreased. When Hans was on Pheno, in the beginning he was pretty "drunk". He had ataxia and was just off. We had an extremely difficult time regulating his meds at first. I have two sets of stairs in my house and I kept both gated so he wouldn't fall when I wasn't there. Hopefully, Todd will handle the meds with ease. Keeping you both in my thoughts.
  22. I don't think it's an emergency tonight. I'd give Bee Wiseman's (love that name) Opthamalogist a call tomorrow. It could be that the pannus has gotten worse and is just now noticeable. I've had this happen before. It seemed to have gotten worse in a day. May just need to increase eye drops.
  23. greyt update for Spartan and many many thanks to all involved in stepping up to help this grey!
