  1. It's about time we had some good news around here!!!
  2. Miss you, Diane! Please come back and visit. Lots of hugs sent to you.
  3. I feel so bad for you and Penny, but remember she doesn't fear death and she doesn't know she only has a few weeks. Enjoy your time with her, but don't let her suffer because you can't bear to be without her. She'll always be with you, in your heart and soul. I'd ask Tuft's for lots of pain meds to keep her comfortable until you're both ready. I'm so sorry, I know how hard this is for both of you.
  4. Kat, I'm going thru something similar with Patsie. She got a couple hot spots between her shoulders, and near the base of her tail about a month ago and then she started getting little red lesions on her legs, and ears, it looked similar to shingles. She was itchy and her hair started falling out all over; she has thick soft bunny fur so it'll be a long time before she'd ever be bald. The vet thinks it's an auto immune disease caused from a flea bite, but I can't think of the big long name he called it. We're treating her with antibiotics(clavamox) and she received a steroid injection, and there's been a big improvement. I'm also bathing her once a week with chlorhexiderm shampoo, and spraying her daily with 4% chlorhexiderm to help with the itchies. We also checked her liver values and they were normal. You might want to ask your vet about the possibility of an autoimmune disease and maybe try treating Fallon with steroids to see if he improves. Hugs to you and Fallon.

Shelby, I'm so sorry. We have lost so many lately, it's sad. Run with the angels Deuce.
  6. Laura, I'm so sorry you're going thru this. I know how hard it is and you have to do what you feel is right. Enjoy the time you have with Joe and hopefully he'll be ok until tomorrow. Hugs for you and Joe.

    Thank You

I'm sorry for the loss of Corina. Sometimes it's time for them to leave, no matter how hard we try to keep them here.
  8. Oh Lori, poor Tasha! The boys knocked Patsie(12 1/2) off the steps last week and I about had a heart attack. She got up and went running after them, but OMG I was a wreck. She was a little sore that evening, so a couple of days of Metacam and she's back to being trouble with a capital P. The next day we put up railing on both sides of the steps so that won't happen again. Feel better Tasha!!
  9. Laura, is Joe taking a NSAID like Metacam or Dermaxx? If he has inflammation in his neck/spine then an anti-inflamatory med along with the Tramadol should give him some relief. Tramadol is also not for all dogs, it made Brooke very restless and she couldn't tolerate it. If you're seeing Dr. P today ask him about other drug options. Sending healing thoughts and prayers. oops, sorry just saw that Joe is taking Previcox. Most of the NSAIDs work better at reducing inflammation if they're given consistently for a week to 10 days, then stop and see how he does. Patsie has compressed discs in her neck and when she's having problems I give Metacam for 7 days and then she's back to new. edited cause I haven't had enough coffee
  10. Hatter does the reverse sneezing and has done it since I've had him(6 years) He's as bad or worse than your boy and it's scary sometimes. I rub his throat and it helps, but it does seem like he can't breathe. I've checked his gums when he's having an episode and they've always stayed pink, so I guess he's getting enough oxygen. If you find a cure, I'd sure like to know about it.
  11. I'm so sorry. Praying for a peaceful journey to the Bridge, and prayers of comfort for you and your family.
  12. Rich and Jerrie, I am so sorry...my heart hurts so bad for you. I wish I could give you a personal hug. I'm thinking of both of you.
  13. I stand corrected...that's what I get for posting after my bedtime. Olive oil is high in omega 9's ...hey 3 and 6 equals 9.
  14. Extra virgin olive oil is an excellent source. 1 tablespoon twice a day. I just splash a little on their kibble...they love it!
  15. How scary! Sometimes things happen for a reason, and yes, it is bigger than us. Lots of prayers for Grandpa.
  16. My Bridge Angel, Brooke had very severe separation anxiety, and it took lots and lots of training, and lots and lots of exercise to get her over SA. She did get over it though! I opted to not go with drugs and only with training. I did lots of research and drugs work along with training, but you can't just medicate and hope the problem goes away. Ask your vet to recommend a trainer who specializes in behavior modification. I wish you lots of luck. I know how frustrating it is to see your dog be so unhappy, and feeling helpless.
  17. You and Misty are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope everything goes well today.
  18. Thinking of you and Polli today. Praying everything goes well.
  19. Claudia, we're sending lots of prayers for Misty. Come on baby girl!
  20. Laura, you and Joe are in my thoughts and prayers. Feel better Joe!!
  21. I'm so sorry. Blackberry will send you a new family member when you're ready, just listen to your heart.
  22. Comforting thoughts and prayers for all of you. Bodie has been such an inspiration to so many. Hugs
