KF_in_Georgia
I think you'd better call your vet or poison control. Bag Balm has lots of petroleum jelly and lanolin in it. I don't know how much fat may be in the lanolin (pancreatitis risk?), and I don't know how safe petroleum jelly is when ingested in large quantities. Josie
Just call the vet, there's NO emergency, nothing toxic. She will probably get diarrhea OR not... that thing is just grease... I also called the bag balm company and they said the same thing.. Quote Our first greyhound, Tuffy: You will always be there with us my angel! KF_in_Georgia
My girl's a sheep fan, too, but she gets her jollies from wool: I had bought the wool for a knitting class, so basically--the dog ate my homework. Guest normaandburrell
What a relief! Our Iceman swallowed a nylon leash, minus the clip. We didn't even know until he threw it up 3 days later, in one piece. We were terrified! Called the evet who said "if he eats, poops, and acts happy, don't worry." GeorgeofNE
Poison control???? Nah. My cats LOVE to lick my hand when I've put bag balm on my fingers! In fact I believe they used to prescribe ingesting Vaseline Petroleum jelly for constipation in cats! The stuff is made to slather on the udder of a cow. It's not toxic. 4My2Greys
That is not always the case. Some foods become toxic depending on the amount consumed, nutmeg for example. So while it seems bag balm is okay it is always best to err on the side of caution if large amounts of a questionable substance are consumed. Josie
It was a 10 ounces container.. around 7-8 ounces was in it.. Update 24 hours after eating the bag balm; things are back to normal. The poop was firmer. End of this adventure... I guess Abbey wanted to make sure I had a memorable birthday LOL Quote Our first greyhound, Tuffy: You will always be there with us my angel! EllenEveBaz
Jeter thanks Abbey for the menu idea -- he loves Neosporin and bitter apple, and is looking to expand his choices.
