Guest kar
I found a lump on show, I guess you would call it in the front armpit area. It is small and moveable and feels soft. Has anyone every encountered one of these. Of course I find it on a Saturday, vet is closed. I am really worried.
Remolacha
How big a lump? How old is your dog? Charley has a couple of small, soft moveable lumps which turned out to be fatty cysts, fairly common in older dogs. She is 10 1/2. Definitely have it checked, but no need to panic just yet
Guest kar
she is close to eight. it is about the size of a pea.
RedHead
I wouldn't panic yet. Lipomas, cysts, etc. are quite common in dogs. My 12 year old has 3 or 4 lumps that are harmless. If it is round and moveable (not attached to anything) it is a good sign. Still a good idea to get checked at the vet of course, but there are lots of harmless types of lumps and bumps
Guest normaandburrell
I'm a nurse practitioner. Movable lumps are usually benign. Make an appointment on Monday to set your mind at ease, but think positively in the meantime.

cristar
Three of our older ones have had the 'mushy' feeling lumps. Turned out to be nothing in all of them. Have it checked for peace of mind.
DesiRayMom
Desi has one of those, too, in just about the same area you describe. Size of a small pea. My vet found it, poked it, checked it under the microscope....said it was nothing to worry about. It's been there for over a year, doesn't bother him and hasn't grown. Probably same kind of thing, but for your own piece of mind, have it checked. Quote Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog. EllenEveBaz
Dear Nutmeg had one of those for years in about the same place. We kept an eye on it, and after a few years, when it got bigger, had it removed. Benign. No trouble for her. Batmom
Small, movable, and soft is often -- not always, but often -- a lipoma. Your vet can check it out with a fine needle aspirate if need be; no anaesthesia, fasting, etc. needed for that. Whatever it is, not an emergency unless it doubles in size overnight or seems painful to your dog. Couple of days won't hurt anything. (If it is a lipoma, couple of years might not hurt anything -- some of them can grow rapidly and/or large, but many just hang around as smallish bumps.) carronstar
Holding good thoughts for you. Fatty cysts are an unattractive fact of life. Scarlett had one under her tail and she licked at it for a few months and cleanly removed it. Her vet had said it wasn't a problem so we were both pretty darn surprised. She did a completely bloodless removal!
PatricksMom
Adding to the crowd, soft, moveable lumps are usually nothing to worry about unless they're in a place they get irritated (under the collar, etc.) Hoping for a good answer on Monday. Guest kar
Snow's lump is a fatty cyst. No need to worry thank god. Does any one else's dog get so upset after a vet visit that they do not even want to go for walk? She is a baby but she is my baby and I love her. PatricksMom
If she'll tolerate it, try taking her in the car someplace really good after the vet--to get ice cream, to buy a new toy, that's helped here to cheer them up and it helps avoid a negative association with the car.
