Update 9/12 Fuzzy's Medical Issues

Recommended Posts

I recommend again that you see a specialist and get an ultrasound.Healthy dogs don't have diarrhea this long that doesn't respond to meds or diet.

I too agree with this, but would like to add give Manuka honey a try if you haven't already. I've been able to stop bouts of diarrhea several times in Nadir with it.

So sorry to hear about Fuzzy. We had a problem with Hailey when we lived in St. Louis. We couldn't figure out what the problem was and she was getting sicker and sicker. It wasn't just the big D though, There was blood and vomiting too. Long story short - it ended up being the cleaning supplies my cleaning lady was using!!!! Whatever she was using on my kitchen floor - Hailey would walk across and then it was on her feet. She'd lick her feet and that was it.

Then, over the summer, Sonny had the big D out of now where. Long story short with that one - I discovered he was drinking the water from the kiddie pool. If my DH didn't empty it asap, flowers from the tree dropped into it> I was watching Sonny's every move to see what he was eating and I saw that when I let Sonny out back, he went straight for the pool and the water!

It may be something small you are over looking. I hope it is and that you figure it out soon.

I put Fuzzy on the Veterinarian potato diet for diarrhea and overnight he had solid poops. You can only be on the diet for 4 days as there is really no protein. I added canned pumpkin and some canned chicken to it as well.

I decided over the weekend to wean him off of the pred and flagly, and told our vet on Monday. Since we started to wean him off, he has started leaking pee. I took him and a urine sample this morning and the urine was fine, so it is a result of the pred, apparently. I hate this stuff and can't wait for him to be done with this. I blame myself as I should have started the potato diet earlier as we have used it in our family before. It is just, you forget about things. He has lost 10 lbs.

Today I purchased limiited ingredient duck and potato and we will see how that goes. I asked Fuzzy not to leave us yet. I need him to be Paul's friend a little longer. Still think good thoughts for our boy. Thanks.

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." -- Unknown
