PatricksMom
Murphy's experiencing periodic swelling of the organs in the abdomen associated with his lymphoma that causes the intestines to be out of place. I've noticed this makes him really gassy and I'm worried he's uncomfortable. Any thoughts on whether some gentle massage of his tummy is likely to make him feel better or worse? He's very stoic when actually hurting, so I'm nervous about making him worse and not realizing it. Any other ideas that might help? Quote Beth, Petey (8 September 2018- ), and Faith (22 March 2019). Batmom
I know you can give a child's dose -- whatever is for a kid @ 12 years old. Not sure if that's the same as or less than an adult dose or if you can give more; hopefully someone else will wander by and advise. Gentle scritchies to your good boy. PatricksMom
I ended up risking a very gentle tummy rub which he loved, and it was smelly but did the trick. I did buy the Gasx though, I'll try that next time we need it. Quote Beth, Petey (8 September 2018- ), and Faith (22 March 2019). Guest grey_dreams
Just a ballpark estimate: The dosage for many (most?) human medicines/supplements are averaged for an average weight of 150 pounds. So if your dog is approximately half of that weight, you can give half of the recommended human dose. (That's what I've always heard)
greyhead
When we had this problem, the vet said we could give "quite a lot." We usually gave two pills (of Gas-X), but occasionally gave 3-5. PatricksMom
Thanks for the doseage. I gave him one last night after he ate half a loaf of bread. I've also been rubbing his tummy which helps and he loves. Quote Beth, Petey (8 September 2018- ), and Faith (22 March 2019).
